Overview of Gardner Landing Campground

All campers must obtain a free permit/site reservation using the online reservation system. The permit must be displayed at the campsite at all times. Permits may be obtained 14 days in advance.

Length of stay: From March 11 to Oct. 31 – Two days up to 14 consecutive days. From Oct. 31 to March 10 – No limit, but the length of stay cannot extend beyond March 10.

Thought it would be quiet during the off season but lots of action! people fishing, putting their boat in, hunters camping in the area, etc. Free camping by the river though, not too bad! Pretty easy access for anyone even without 4x4 but if it has rained recently that might change things completely. decently clean area for a free spot probably because there are trash cans but still lots of fishing and camping trash in the woods. a few house boats and someone stayed at one of them overnight, probably hunters/fisherman. Some guy there had been staying for more than a month hunting and camping. he would drive insanely fast and i saw him hit a tree and break the side mirror off before backing into his trailer at 10-15mph... definitely some characters! they ran their generator all night and hunters arrived early in the am so don't expect any quietness. I don't mind all that because would rather find cool free spots like this, but maybe try a different one in Apalachicola...
