Gaines County Park RV Campground

We stayed here overnight while traveling east to west. After being in the east all summer where it feels next to impossible to find boondocking or a cheap basic site we were pleasantly surprised to find this conveniently located on our route. In early November there was a sign indicating no water however we found a few spigots on, filled our tank then unhooked to prevent freezing (the spigots are not frost free). The sites have 20/30 amp and sewer. The sign indicates $15 for non residents and $7.50 for county residents. We could not find anywhere to pay and in the morning called the golf course (located in the park) and were told we could go there to pay; when I asked if we could pay via phone as we were on our way out I was told "don't worry about it, have a nice day." That is probably what earned this four stars instead of three. It is literally a level gravel lot and there is highway noise and in the morning a foul odor from the nearby oil refinery, but the convenience and kindness were appreciated. We were the only ones there and no one bothered us. The adjacent park is a good place to walk dogs. According to Google reviews it sounds like it is busy in the summer but on a weekday in November it was deserted. The park also has picnic tables and BBQ/smokers. Note you will probably need 20ft sewer hose to hook up to sewer when backed in a larger RV.
