“Nice woodsy, rustic park with pool and playground needs updating and staff training.”

Overall Rating

We liked the proximity to the Smokey Mtns and it's train. Scenery is beautiful and the park is centrally located for easy access. We picked Wilderness Park specifically for it's 'kid friendly' atmosphere and play area. We DID NOT like the loose dogs of the owners and year round residents roaming the park and barking at our rig, our dog and worse our grandkids. I had to physically stand between the dogs and grandchildren. This happened several times during our stay even after telling the staff twice of the aggressive dogs. The staff drove by them daily while working in the park. Ft Wilderness is going through some kind of an owner change anbd possible dispute, BUT the on site managers (D&D) are making the best of a trying situation. Their customer service and attention to our needs was EXCELLENT! They attended to details in making our stay as pleasant as possible and generously offered assistance above and beyond their job assignments. The managers should be the owners of the park- They know how to run it! Electric was good, water/sewer good. The advertised cable service did not work at our site but it was not an inconvenience as we have our own satelite rcvr. During our stay there were heavy rains that washed some mud and small rocks down onto or site and the adjacent site. Grounds Maintenance staff immediately began pressure washing the pull in sites BUT on my site, he used the pressure washer to push it under my motorhome and sprayed the front and sides of the rig with high-pressure water and mud. It coated the entire front end of the RV, I had to go outside and tell him to stop putting the want under my rig and get away from the vehicle. He had no concept of the possible damage. Thankfully no harm was done to the paint after cleaning of the mud. But the staff needs a lot of training on how to treat campers. Not firing up chain saws at 8am on Sat morning. Not driving thru cites, not walking thru occupied sites, not standing in front our site and conversing loudly about their job assignments. Etc. Pool was ok, playground could use some upgrades. Over all feel of the park is ok, almost "good". With some work this place would 5 star fantastic. Hope they can get it there.
