This was the second time we have stayed here. This is the windiest campground in the recreation area, but still Amazing Free camping! We have made a second video explaining camping options in Lake Meredith National Recreation Area that explains the amenities at each campground: https://youtu.be/j5Ne-4MEHyc

It got very windy at times during our short stay, including a monsoon rainstorm at 4am with 50mph+ gusts! But the unique perch on the bluff was brilliant, and nearby Fritch Fortress Trail was a nice diversion. Easily better than many campgrounds I’ve paid to stay in - highly recommended.

Awful. The worse campground ever with flies.
The three stars were for the flies. So sad because beautiful views and two picnic tables per site along with a shower in each of the 4 restrooms.

This place was just what we were looking for in the area. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and plenty of sites available to choose from. We have a 43 ft TH and it was fine getting in here. No problems at all, but it’s a tight squeeze on the site we chose. Slides are ever so slightly over the line.
Easy to find using Google maps. Max stay is 14 days. Dump station available. Fresh water available at bathroom with a faucet or at dump station. We use a water bladder to power fill our fresh water tanks and the one by the bathroom was perfect for us. We travel with a Jeep so it might not work for everyone. The fresh water at the dump station doesn’t have fitting for hose.
We have solar and this site was nice a clear providing plenty of sunlight during a clear day. It is a little windy considering it’s a cliff overlooking a lake, so keep that in mind when staying or leaving out anything that might blow over.
Bathrooms were nice and private with a shower. Hot water is available at the showers which is always a plus.
Overall, its a perfect site for free!

We stayed here for a week in April. The campground is a paved loop with 9 pull-off campsites. Look at the lay out on Google Maps and you will get a better understanding of what I mean. For us bigger class A folks it is a tight fit but completely doable. There is a shelter and picnic table for almost every campsite. Not all the sites are level so you may be living on the lean, choose your site carefully if possible, and chalk your wheels. We arrived on a Wednesday and the only available site was the one across from the bathrooms. We were not level, but we were ok, and I had enough hose to reach the water facet at the bathhouse, so we didn’t have to move to fill up with water.
The campground is on a cliff overlooking the lake, the view to the west is amazing, sunsets are spectacular. The wind is also amazing at times. One night we recorded 30 mph wind gusts with 20 mph sustained. We were rocked to sleep that night. At other times, the wind was around 15-20 mph.
The bathrooms and showers are clean and there was a bottle of Dial hand soap in each. The showers on the north side of the bathhouse had the hottest water. The south side bathrooms had warm water. There is a water spigot on the north side of the bath house and garbage cans on the south side. There is a dump station with potable water on the left side of the road just about quarter a mile before you get to the campground, right after the old water tower. Cell service with AT&T and Verizon was good and useable.
There is a grocery store, dollar store, a couple restaurants, and gas stations in the City of Fritch, about 4 miles to the east. There is a Walmart, auto parts stores, and all you will ever need in Borger, about eleven miles to the north. There is a drive through coffee house called Scooter’s in Borger that my wife says is better than Starbucks.
If you are coming up form Amarillo, Texas on Texas 136, when you get to the south limits of Fritch, Google Maps will take you off 136 and on a hilly route. If you are in a bigger RV and desire a less challenging route, continue north on 136 to Fritch Fortress Road and make a left turn for a more direct route. You will see Fritch Storage on the left, at the intersection. If you go past the campground you will end up at a boat ramp on a pretty steep downhill and it may be difficult to turn around in a big rig.
We stayed here in a 40 foot class A pulling a Jeep.

The people are friendly and if you get a chance you need to go to this quaint little shop called rustique heart and soul clothes and gifts, and if they are closed just call the number.

If you have an RV or are otherwise self-contained I highly recommend this site - the views are beautiful, there are showers, bathrooms, running water and it is free! There are also shelters, picnic tables, and fire pits. You'll need to bring wood with you. It's absolutely wonderful.
If you are tenting I recommend choosing another site on the lake. After our night here we retreated to Plum Creek which is on the other side of Lake Meredith. We camped at Middle Plum Creek and the winds weren't a problem at all.
