French Beach Provincial Park Campground

This campground lies along the north shore of the Juan de Fuca Strait and although the campground itself is not on the beach, there is easy access to it by trails from the campground and the day use area. French Beach made a great base for exploring Juan de Fuca National Park and Sooke Potholes Regional Park, both of which are well worth a visit.

Like most Canadian provincial parks, French Beach has no hook-ups, but there is a dump station across the highway from the park entrance (I believe the fee was $5 CDN). Sites in the campground are spacious, fairly level and quite private with picnic tables and fire rings. Vault toilets, garbage cans, and water spigots are conveniently located around the campground. There is a nice day use area and playground for the kids and there appeared to be no fee for their use. Rangers drive through the campground selling firewood and checking reservations every evening. I would recommend reservations during the summer months as this is a popular campground.

The price quoted above is in CA funds and does not include an $18 CDN reservation fee or taxes. With those things included I calculated that it coast us $32 CDN/night or $24.33 US/night.

WE loved our day trip to Port Renfrew, hiking the Botanical Beach Loop trail in Juan de fuca National Park, and hiking at Sooke Potholes Regional Park. Sooke is just a short drive from the park and offers all services.
