However, I am very confused by the recreation.gov reservation site, which lists all the first come, first serve sites, but when you actually get here a bunch of them say reservable on the site post. Many of these were reserved for the weekend according to the signs on the posts, but not for the day I arrived, but no way to book them on the website. Maybe the campground host could have helped, but I gave up and just took the one I’m at.

Nice lake with very clear water. Unfortunately although it is very close to Pinedale the Verizon service dropped off a cliff after entering the campground, varying from no bars to 1 bar at campsite. Voice and text only at best. Some reviews mention 3 bars of lte. Where were they? I’d stay here again but only when prepared to be off grid.

The sites on the shore are very close together but if you go right on entering towards sites 1-12 they sit away from the crowd and are well spaced from the others. Currently signs on the water indicate that it has not been tested and should not be used. Site 7 is totally secluded and is really suitable for a van. Clean toilets tables fire pit and bear boxes. Wildlife roaming around everywhere.

The sites are large and provide reasonable privacy. Some are even paved. Mine was a gravel pull through, right beside the lake and very level. No water or electricity at my site, but there are numerous water spigots throughout the campground. Some sites have shade, others are better for solar collection. The pit toilets were extremely clean, even though the campground was very busy.
There’s a boat launch at the campground with plenty of parking. Verizon cell service was weak, but immediately picked up about halfway to Pinedale.
Also, be sure to visit the nearby CCC Ponds for a morning or evening hike. They’re surprisingly lovely, lush and peaceful. You may see deer, beaver or even a moose!

1. Getting here. After turning left off the Fremont Lake road from Pinedale, you'll cross a cattle guard after which the road is graveled. After you make the right turn to the campground the road is paved again. There is some significant road disrepair in the first 1/4 mile and at 1.7 mi. (dark spots in paving) to slow down for.
2. If so inclined there is a paved bike lane on the west side of the Fremont Lake Road all the way from the lake turn off to Pinedale.
3. There is a great variety of sites.
A. While not tenting ourselves, I am sympathetic to those who were for whom the site offered no decent tent pad. There are other sites that do not initially appear to have a good tent pad but they do exist out the back or side of the graveled area around picnic table, fire spit and bear box.
B. Some sites are very well spaced from others and the road while others are nearly end to end right on/next to the road.
C. There are generously sized sites that are both back in and pull through.
D. Over all the location of the campground along the lake provides a lovely setting and easy access to the lake from day use areas if not the camp site.
4. Arriving early on a Sunday afternoon we had pretty good selection of FF sites for a 35' motor home. We had ample space for our toad once backed in. I was told by a local employee that Mondays provide that best FF availability. We left to spend 2 nights at Trails End Campground and were able to reserve #26 for another night after that. A 1 p.m. checkout time provides time for a leisurely morning and departure.
5. We were in the north end which provided for a very quiet setting.
6. Recommend the Glimpse Lake Trail for quick good views of the lake from the other side and NW of the campground.
7. Do not recommend the Scab Creek Trail to Little Divide Lake which, in our opinion, has a high cost to benefit ratio.

Moved sites to sunnier $40 when I added a night just for solar charging ease. Camp Host this year is very nice and helpful. Campground was not full even on a weekend end of July. Sites are a mix of FCFS and Reserved. With Senior Lifetime Pass FCFS is only $6, reserved is $12. Bear boxes, tent pads, and picnic tables all in good condition. Lots of space between sites. Campground is also a Rec Area with a boat ramp so a fair amount of people come in for boating only adding traffic to the higher number sites that are located before the boat ramp & parking lot. Not a significant problem to me. Sites with higher numbers near the entrance are newly paved and most sites fairly level for trailers and motorhomes. Only 6 miles out of town northeast of Pinedale on a paved county road. Museum of the Mountain Men nearby was quite interesting. For some reason ATT cell service was slow, but steady.

Some FCFS sites but hard to come by. As soon as one leaves, someone else is pulling in within minutes. Reservation system updates constantly so if it’s full, check back. Cell service is spotty at best. All sites have bear lockers, picnic tables and fire rings. Some bugs. Lots of wildflowers. One of the most beautiful lakes in Wyoming.

We drove through campground today and Verizon was barely 2 bars of 3G anywhere. I'm skeptical of reviews claiming 4G/LTE and note that recent reviews don't confirm that.
