Freddie Black #2 Dispersed Camping

Loved this spot! We were here for 5 days and had the place to ourselves. We scoped out Freddie Black#1 first but decided on Freddie Black #2 as it had the better view of the Mississippi River. Both are accessible via a gravel road about 2 miles outside of the small town of Arkansas City. The road in was fine.

We parked to the left, the boat ramp and an open field with more spots is to the right. The spot we choose was level and what a great view of the Mississippi River. It was so peaceful here.

It had rained before we arrived and during our stay but no trouble with flooding.

It's off the beaten path but well worth it. About 20 minutes away from Mcghee. We really enjoyed our time here and it was hard to leave.

We also had cell service here, with AT&T (through Cricket).

No facilities here so bring what you need. There is a water spigot up near the fish cleaning building. I wouldn't drink it but it can be used for dishes, showers, etc.

Arkansas City, AR. Picnic area as part of Freddie Black area. We were heading for #2, but the riverside sites #1 and 2 were flooded still. The picnic area was on the edge of the village of Arkansas City. Dept F&W. Water and picnic tables; no other facilities; was on the edge of the maintenance yard. Pretty spot close to bend in nearby creek. Near N33.62507, W91.17907. Stayed 2 nights.
