The sites are 90 degrees to the road instead of angled, but large with the little fence corral around them. We were happy to have a bit of a water view! Bathhouse was clean and had a nice hot shower. Laundry was in front of the bathhouse. The trails & day use area was very nice - ranger I chatted with for awhile was full of interesting info and the pond was cool to see as there were two beaver dams and a beaver lodge! Easy grocery shopping in either direction and 3rd Planet Brewing was nice for an afternoon beer.

A beautiful campground, with lots of trees, and a view of the Aquatic Preserve. The grounds and facilities are all well maintained and functional. All the sites are well shaded, but our Starlink was still able to work. The one thing you need to know is the park is on the flight path of very fast and loud jets flying out of Elgin AFB, and it sometimes feels like an air show! The staff are all friendly, personable and very professional.

We just booked this State Park as a filler between two destinations but we were really pleasantly surprised at how great a state park this is. This is a water and electric only campground and I'd call it big rig friendly-ish, we did OK with our 40 foot fifth wheel but the road is narrow and the sites are a 90 degree back in. The park is fairly small overall but has 40 campsites, water access, nature trails and a great day use area. The park has an interesting history, it was part of Eglin AFB and during WWII it was used as a practice range by Doolittle's raiders.
Utilities are good, water pressure was decent and the power was steady at 123 volts. Both Verizon and AT&T were fast enough for streaming and we got a handful of OTA channels.
The area around the park has most everything you'd need and in about a half hour you can be in Destin checking out white sand beaches.

A small park of only 42 camping spots nestled in the woods. Located just off the main road makes it easy to find. However, it is far off enough that the road noise isn't obvious.
All spots are gravel except the ADA spots. Spot 42 had a moderate front/back slope, but very little left/right slope. Some of the other spots were more severe. Even saw some Class A and Bs with their front tires off the ground. All spots have water, 20/30/50 electric hook-ups, picnic table, fire ring, and laundry line. Spots 1-15 have some distance and trees between each other. However, most of the spots past that are almost right next to each other with little to no trees.
The single bathhouse is located in the middle of the camp. It is cleaned daily and is in very good condition.
The several miles of nature trails are clean enough to know which way to go, but left alone enough to still feel like you are in nature.
The camp store is very small and mostly just sells little knickknacks. Kayak rentals are available. There are several pavilions, grills, and picnic tables close to the water's edge.
No Wi-Fi. Verizon cell service was good.

Park was packed over the Thanksgiving weekend. Got the last spot available through the online reservation system. Wide concrete site, very level. Has all the amenities, even laundry with a change machine.
Verizon good.
AT&T good.

Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou is located off the Choctawhatchee Bay on highway 20 between Niceville and Seminole, Florida. All sites were level, gravel, with some tree cover. There are a few sites with bay views; sites 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, and 34. The shower house with laundry was suitable for our needs and much like all of the shower houses we have encountered in other Florida State parks. The electric and water hook-ups worked fine.
There are 3 short hiking trails that are out and back from the campground. The campground is adjacent to the day-use area; which has a playground, boat ramp, another out and back hiking trail, and kayaks that can be rented at the front ranger station/entry. There is some traffic noise from highway 20 and during the day there are Eglin jets flying over, occasionally. I heard neither of these during the night. Overall it is a quiet and peaceful place to camp. And I felt very rested and de-stressed after staying there.
The rangers and volunteers were friendly and helpful. We were there when a storm was anticipated and a ranger checked on us during the day and told us of the impending storm. It was mostly hard rain and wind gusts that night and did not affect us. We were there the last week in March and had very nice weather, no insects, and sunny days. My husband and I were mid-way in our training for a half marathon and used all of the trails, paved roads, and walkways within the park every day. We also used the paved walking/biking trail that ran alongside Highway 20 between Niceville and Seminole to meet our mileage goals.
Generally, I have enjoyed all of the Florida State Parks that I have visited, but I would put Fred Gannon high on my list.
