“Peaceful Spot In The City”

Overall Rating

Stayed here for 2 nights while driving through Ontario. For being right in the city it was very quiet. Sites are grassy, less than level but spacious and they do have FHU. Price for 30 amp was $45 Canadian and $5 more for 50 amp. No amenities at present due to a fire in the motel. WiFi came and went. Close to grocery and the lakeshore parks.

“Difficult decision - North Bay Ont has few good options.”

Been here about 5 times.

Old management / new management.

POSITIVE: you are camping behind a motel in (next to) downtown North Bay. Fairly quiet, safe, NEXT to shopping and fuel stops. Has a river un through it …. ducks / water fowl are wandering about.. You are 1/2 mile from the Dion Quintuplets museum - if so inclined. Easy access to Hwy 17

NEGATIVES: A bit tight - it's behind a motel, power went out 1/5 trips (20%), cable TV would not work, its a bit TIGHT …. I have been there (few other options) with a 23 foot TT, a 28 foot TT a 20 foot TT and a MO (28 foot if I recall). we all fit - it's a bit tight.

This campground is a tight loop around back of a Motel - reminiscent of 1970's camping, roads are tight - and that's with a TT / or 5th - how a large MO could fit would indeed be a challenge. We have stayed at this CG MANY times (thus the only dated pic's from about 20 years ago). The power was on again off again - my brothers site and 1/2 the CG went out overnight - and they sweltered in their MO (class C - 28 feet). Lucky we remained with power - different breaker I suppose. We have been with a 21 foot TT, 28 foot TT, 32 foot TT and a 34 foot 5th - all do-able - but its a challenge. Power as I recall is 15/20/30 amp.

Mosquitoes can be horrid, fish fly's can be a problem as well / they coat EVERYTHING.

Your in town so take a walk about --- BTW if there's an incoming TT/5th etc. and your on the way out the loop in/out is around the side of the motel - someone's going to have to give way.

Would we stop here again ...... NO, power (as demonstrated is not reliable - read OLD CAMPGROUND), sites are very tight (5th and MOHO stay close to the Motel - open end of the loop). Our trips now include "not" stopping here. But having said that it is perfect for someone that wants to stay IN TOWN. We camped at Franklin Motor Hotel and Campground in a 5th Wheel.

North Bay is the home of Canada's shamefull treatment / now museum to the Dion Quintuplettes (spelling?). Back in the 20-30's the children were seized by the Provincial Gov and PUT ON DISPLAY like a zoo.

This part of North Bay is the old city with tight / small access in the downtown area, my suggestions if visiting stay out of town and drive into town in your tow / toad etc.
