“A little out of the way, and odd, but ultimately OK”

This was a pretty fair way off the beaten path for us, but it was late and a T'storm was coming. Arriving after dark, it seemed less organized than it appeared in daylight, as there were no site numbers we could see. We utilized a space that a helpful man camped (living?) across the road said was generally meant for tents, and it was grassy and clean with electric only and near the roadway, as we didn't want to get stuck pulling further into a field. Quiet night except for t'storms and threat of hail. Seems like some locals or long termers camped there, but it wasn't junky and was utterly quiet and peaceful. No OATV, okay Verizon. No showers and didn't use restrooms. It certainly worked in a pinch!

If you like quiet, peaceful camping, then Frances Park is a place to go. Located about 3 miles east of Kewanee, the campground is located in a grove of huge oak trees. There are no assigned sites, so first-come, first-serve is the norm. It is a grassy area with electric sites. Water is available in a centrally-located area of the campground. Dump station is provided. Restrooms leave something to be desired. A nice place to pull off for the night. During the week, you might be the only one there. Maintenance man is very friendly and helpful.
