We stayed here overnight on our way back down 395. In the heat of the summer it was a great relief to find a nice breezy campground in the cooler temperatures. Woke up in the morning to the sun shining on the mountain, beautiful!

Four Jeffery is no Three Jeffery as on try was felled by disease. Still a great campground. Creekside or in the gorse their are spaces for most tastes. About 30 reservable spaces and the rest first come. Most sites are tent or RV Van friendly. Generally not many trailer spaces.
Bring topo maps and avail yourself to a variety of trails to lakes or summits. Trailheads out of South Lake, North Lake and Lake Sabrina.
Return late in the day, unwind and ready yourself for the star show.

Have camped here twice and always enjoyed our stay. First visit was no reservation but still got a good site backing up to a creek, second time made reservation in able to score a better site in the aspens backing up to the creek. A lot of space between sites and surrounded by trees and shrubs. Saw a lot of deer cruising through the camp every late afternoon. There are open sites in the middle along with sites up on the hill with even better views. South Lake is a 6 mile drive up the mountain with good fishing and spectacular views. Very popular hiking trail head and adequate parking at the lake.
Walk up the center of the camp, stand on a picnic table and you will get Verizon cell service.
Camp hosts been going there for a number of years, great guys. Bathrooms were kept spotless and some have heaters that work! Dump station at entrance and included in the camp fee.
Bishop Creek Lodge is on the way to the lake and has excellent bloody mary's. And food too.
Funny note, it is spelled Four Jeffery on the road sign and Four Jeffrey at Recreation.gov

This campground has two kinds of sites: many are in open sagebrush and feel really exposed, but a good number back up to the creek that flows through, and the dense aspen make them feel very private. There's also a huge range in site sizes, with many only suitable for a car or van, but many could accommodate a 30ish foot RV. Really large rigs might have problems with the tight turns needed to get backed into a site, because the interior roads are not very wide. The reservable sites were all creekside, and looked big enough for big rigs.
The bathrooms were spotless and we heard very little noise during our midweek stay, even though there were a lot of other campers around us.
The campground was supposed to have potable water, but had a sign up about coliform bacteria when we were visiting, so we boiled water before drinking it and avoided filling our tank. Maybe check with the Bishop Ranger Station before you head up to see if you need to bring drinking water.
There's tons of hiking nearby, and a couple little resorts that serve meals. It's an awesome area to spend some time!
With our booster, we went from 2 bars of 1x to 2 bars of LTE. Service would drop frequently, but we were able to get online.
Apparently, this is a little used campground, maybe because it's not super close to any lakes. We loved it!
