Verizon cell service was spotty, but I did a lot of reading, so it didn't bother me. The address was spot on. There are two entrances, you'll want the first one where the picnic tables are and grills. Plus the trees for shade. The road is near by but I didn't really notice the noise unless it was a unusually loud vehicle.

October 16, 2022– Spent one night on the way to the Gulf coast. A few folks drove in, looked around and left. A local man was walking his dog. No other overnighters. It was quiet and rainy. Not super clean but ok for a public park. Full service restroom is available.

Free! Just cruising around and decided to stop in to see a friend. Got in after dark and boy was it dark. The park is on both sides of the creek so I drove around both sides and decided since there were no campers on the northside I would give the one tent on the southside some privacy. I travel in a homemade high top camper shell so I really don't have any restrictions as far as where I can go and where I can get in and out of, but all of the sites are drive through and I don't see any problems getting any size rig in. There was trash on the ground and some that had been pulled out of the trash cans by the animals but it wasn't too distracting. The water level is low but that didn't seem to bother the ducks. The sites are pretty level but there are a few rough spots on the road to get through. This would be a wonderful place with a little upkeep.

We stopped here on our way to New Mexico from Houston. We were originally only going to stay one night but ended up staying the max (3 nights). There were two sides of the creek with plenty of spaces to camp for all size rigs. A lot of people came during the day to swim and enjoy the area, but only one other person came to camp one night. They have ropes to swing into the creek which was so much fun. Some people were even jumping off the bridge into the water, so don’t be alarmed if you see someone jump off while riding in (we were before we knew). They have a water spicket on the small shack on the side with the building that a local told us about, which we used to fill our tanks. They also have a toilet you can use. Plenty of picnic tables and grills. We were also told they stock the creek with trout and catfish.

We camped here overnight in a tent in early June and the place was packed! Lots of people in tents and RVs, but plenty of space to set up regardless. Waking up right on the water was lovely.

There are some picnic tables and grills, though they show their age. You can canoe/kayak and swim from the campground. One two-lane road runs nearby, but traffic is very limited at night, so it’s pretty quiet then. Not much nearby, but it is only about 10-12 miles from San Angelo and all the shopping and restaurants you could need. I would definitely stay again.
