Camped here 3 of our 14 days before we realized water coming through the filter and out our sink faucet was orange. Multiple staff came to check and all were dismissive saying it would eventually run clear. After we realized, we filled our tank from a different site but the RV pump would only work intermittently if you banged on it to loosen the sediment that clearly came through the Yargo water line. Even after showing video and staff in person, Mgr Julia said they were not planning to repair. She said no one else had complained (or realized is more like it). So please be aware and camp at your own risk! There were other maintenance issues as well - filthy men’s restroom, intermittent heat and tiny hot water tank that ran out after a couple of showers. We were highly disappointed. Camped here many times before but something clearly changed in management over the past year and everything in the campground except the new road was poorly maintained.

Stayed here because it was the only option that seemed convenient to Athens on a booked up UGA football weekend. It isn’t convenient at all and involved about a 45 minute traffic congested commute each way. Some nice enough sites in the forest. A lake and trails we didn’t use. And stone cold showers on a 34° morning. They apparently spent all their money fixing up a swanky new entrance and visitor center, and left nothing for some badly needed upgrades on the bathrooms.I dislike paying a five dollar parking fee on top of the overnight campground fee but when we saw about 15 extra cars parked around the campground Saturday morning, we realized it was a real moneymaker and probably a necessity. OATV but weak Verizon.

We weren’t using the lake or hiking — just looking for something convenient to Athens, which it wasn’t. Dislike practice of tacking on a parking fee of $5 on top of overnight fee. Park is well kept with showy new entrance and HQ but showers in campground are funky. Plenty of OATV but low Verizon.

There is an additional $5.00 parking fee. The campground is so beautiful! Great trails, clean bathroom and shower. Spacious sites, nice and spread out.
We would definitely stay here again.
We were right next to the Yurts and the kids were a little loud but nothing we couldn’t handle.

This was just a stop halfway to our final stop. It was nice nothing special. The site was fairly level and you weren't too close to your neighbors. Bathhouse was clean but could use some updating.

Our trailer is a Rockwood Roo 233S hybrid. We stayed in site #5 and were happy with the amount of room for setting up and the pad is level. The site is right on the water and has enough trees to hang a hammock. Not all sites have are waterfront. For the most part it was a quiet trip since we camped during the middle of the week and hardly anyone was there. Of course it's the cold part of the year and not a lot of people like camping in low temps. It did rain almost the whole trip so we didn't really get a chance to explore. When we left Saturday (a beautiful sunny day of course) it was a lot busier. The restrooms are clean, although not very well heated. There's a hiking trail and it's definitely a place to bring kayaks, canoes, etc. We saw people rowing skull boats so I'm not sure if they were practicing or it's some sort of park experience type of deal. Most of the sites are very close to one another so be prepared if that's not your thing. The tent sites are in a good setting and very spacious. We have T-mobile and the reception was anywhere from 1-3 bars. Most of the time it was 2 bars. Just enough to stream. I hope this helps for anyone looking to stay here.

We stayed only one night on our way from SC to TN. We will return for a few days as a destination. Nice bathrooms, terrific host, nice trails, new and pristine all the way around. Above average SP campsites. Lots of "downed wood" for fires. Winder is very close by if you need to buy stuff.

Beautiful state park nestled in the GA pines. More than seven miles of hiking trails and 12 miles of biking trails. Canoeing and kayaking available too. Sites are spacious and mostly level gravel sites and long enough that we were able to stay hooked up to the truck.

We came to Fort Yargo on our way to visit out son. It allowed us to avoid the spaghetti bowl in down town Atlanta. Fort Yargo is a well organized State Park with recreational facilities on a small lake. We were traveling with another couple and the management very nicely accommodated our sites next to each other. We were in a well wooded area and nearly unaware of other campers in adjacent sites. Our site was level gravel with a pull through. Our stay was truly very pleasant. We will keep this on our list of places to stay the next time we are in the area.
