Sites were clean and spacious and had hook ups in this loop. Our site Directly backed to the coffenbury lake which had a 2 mile hiking trail around it. Lots of biking trails (mostly paved) throughout the parks with cool military ruins and some history. Our loop was quiet with a bathroom and push button showers in the center of the loop.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fort Stevens, our only complaint – two days wasn’t long enough! We hiked around Coffenbury Lake, visited the Peter Iredale shipwreck and the historic military installations, rode our bikes on the beach and the paved trails and drove into Astoria (hello Ft. George Brewery!). Whew!
The campsites are large and adequately spaced. Site are paved and each has a picnic table and firepit. We had water and electric (50 amp) hook-ups, although L and M loops are full hook-up. There is a dump station, garbage dumpster and recycling center.
It can be a bit of a walk to the beach but it’s an easy bike ride there. We were surprised to find the mosquitos active so early in the season, so come prepared. Looks like a huge disc golf course for fans of the sport.
Verizon service was spotty. We had maybe 1 bar of 4G, but it wasn’t reliable.

We had a great stay at Ft. Stevens. Fall adds to the magic of this state park with beautiful changing foliage, no more mosquitoes (!), mushroom hunting, lifting of fire bans, etc. Amazing trails for long walks or bike rides. We were able to attend one of the mushroom lessons and foraging trips led by a park ranger and found some incredible treasures. The disc golf course is awesome - beautiful location right at the mouth of the Columbia River. The location of Ft. Stevens is also ideal to explore Astoria, the Long Beach Peninsula, and beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and the Columbia. Staff and volunteers were all very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be back again soon!
PS We had hoped to get a decent cell signal to hotspot for work, but it wasn't strong or consistent enough for that to happen. We did rent an office on Pier 12 in Astoria for a few days to work from that was AMAZING! Great spot, if you ever need to work remotely.

Very green, lush. Well maintained campground. Easy ingress/egress. Super chill and quiet except for the monster diesels. I drive a Duramax, but there was an abundance of over-piped, coal-rollers. Easy hookups with sewer drops at campsites. It is a bit of a walk to the beach (about 20-25 minutes), but easy bike ride. Trails are all nicely paved and signed. Awesome, huge beach with a shipwreck. Vehicles are allowed and dogs can be off-leash, which we found to be a bonus, but some may not like. The nearby Fort Stevens is worth checking out if you're staying here, but probably not a draw on its own. Hammond is a bit sleepy but has basics; Warrenton has everything you need, including a plethora of legit taco trucks. Seaside is about 15 minute south. Cell reception (TMobile) was pretty weak in the campground and area. Pretty much just one bar, and weak at that. Could get texts out, but for work I ended up having to drive into Warrenton Fred Meyer parking lot.

We're staying 7 days (still here). Huge park, very well maintained. Lots of trails, dog friendly (leashed). Beach access (4x4 too). So far it's been great.
Our campsite was a tad tight to get into with our 31ft 5th wheel due to the severe angle, but it wasn't too difficult. Most sites looked easier to get into. Also a tad short, had to park my truck across the front of the site. We had full hookups.
The sites are somewhat close together, but there's lots of trees for sound and sight separation from neighbors in most loops. The park had security in the daytime that restricted access to the campground to campers with a pass.
We were at the front of the loop so there was some road noise, but it wasn't bad. I have AT&T and my wife has Verizon... Both of us had an average of two bars. Enough to check email and surf the web, but was a bit slow for something like making hotel reservations.
Plenty of things to see and do in the area.
Amenities nearby in the towns of Warrenton and Astoria.
We paid zero for our site because my wife and I are both disabled veterans, and we acquired a free pass from the Oregon state parks that allows free camping for up to ten days. Veterans with any disability rating can apply for it on the Oregon state parks website.
It's been a great visit, recommended by a friend who camps here often. We'll definitely be back!

Our first trip to Fort Stevens in September. We camped here 5 days and was in spot J-195, not a real great spot for us because it is 90* to the road and because of the tent water drain was close at the right side of the driveway it was real difficult backing in our 21’ trailer. We found that only loops (H, I, L and M) have complete full hookups and not just water and electric like (J) loop. After looking around we found many other much better spots we could camp in. Most camp sites have the Fire Ring and picnic table in the back of the site close to the asphalt driveway where if you open your awning up it would overhang the fire ring and not be useable, like our site was. Many sites are very skinny and only have room for the asphalt driveway and maybe 10 additional feet beside the driveway. And most sites are only 35-45 feet deep.
We drove to many of the fort sites like the gun bunker and the reconstructed wooded fort itself as it was very close to our site. Warrington was also close bye for shopping at Walmart, Costco and many others. Then we stopped at the Fish Mongers in Hammond and ate cod fish and chips, good food! We also drove to the Astoria column. We haven’t been there for more than 15-20 years and found it great looking, and the view from up there was spectacular overlooking the Columbia River and Astoria.
While we were here, we saw 3 Elk’s eating tree leaves right across from our camp site. They were not spooked by anything and calmly walked and ate down the road. We also walked to the beach and saw the ship wreck and found you can drive on the beach if you have 4-wheel drive. The bathrooms were clean and the whole campground have many camping host’s per loop to keep things is good working order. A very large campground with over 300 sites.
Most of the camp sites are close together and have little or no cover between sites. Many nights from our camp we heard kids playing, adults talking, laughing and other loud noise close by.
We used our American the Beautiful Senior pass to get free access to many of the paid Federal site locations close bye and this has saved us many costly fees.

There are miles of beaches plus the bike/hiking paths so plenty to do aside from hanging out at camp.
I had no data from Verizon even with the WeBoost Drive RV on. AT&T was pretty good with about 16 MB down and 2 MB up with the booster.

Fort Stevens ranks amongst the largest and most developed state parks in the nation. It isn't just a place to park your rig and enjoy camping and being in nature, it has plenty of U.S. history in the form of abandoned battlements and former coastal defense gun emplacements, along with beach access and an abandoned shipwreck. On the northern end of the park is a museum.
A typical day at Fort Stevens will include waking up to a wet morning, as overnight rain is very typical on the Oregon coast, having breakfast and then venturing out, generally by bike, to explore the paved paths in the park. There are also some unpaved hiking trails. Bikes can be rented along with availability of curated kayak tours on the nearby Coffenbury Lake.
We got lucky this year and Oregon only applied a burn ban to state parks east of I-5. The coastal state parks allowed wood burning fires and so we were able to enjoy a real fire every night. Fire rings are odd. Circular with a permanently affixed cooking grate on one half. We weren't cooking over the fire, but found the compromise of the grate taking up half of the fire space quite annoying. I'm comparing this to Forest Service campgrounds I've been in this year which had better configured fire "rings" with a cooking grate that you could pull out of the way, or put back right over the top of the fire.
Arrival was a breeze. We had reserved online (which is basically the only way to get a campsite here), and we had completed the pre-registration at home and printed out our parking permit and our registration form. When we arrived we put the parking permit on the windshield of the motorhome, and put the registration form in a slot at the self registration kiosk in the arrivals parking lot, and went to our site. Couldn't have been easier and we didn't have to fill out any envelopes.
Cell service was terrible. We had no service from AT&T, in spite of having 1 bar of LTE at our campsite. Ironically, when we visited the beach and the shipwreck we had 4 bars LTE and great speeds. The friend we were camping with had Verizon and had no data, but the display indicated they were on LTE and were able to make voice calls and receive SMS messages. But hey, we were able to camp in peace and really enjoy ourselves.
A limited number of loops have full hookups, the remaining loops have partial hookups. Partial hookup sites have power and water. Check with the Oregon State Parks booking site to determine if a site you are interested in has 30 and 50 amp power or just 30 or nothing at all. Same goes for determining if a site has sewer or not.
Quiet hours are enforced religiously. I mean, a couple of park rangers meander through the loops at 10pm and tend to expect that there are no voices, no conversation, etc. This is the first park I've been to that has this "tradition". I inquired with some folks that camp in various Oregon parks and indicate that this is unique to Fort Stevens. I can slightly confirm this. A few days later we were at Viento State Park along the Columbia River and while nobody was overtly loud during quiet hours, there was no patrol running around telling people to shut-up and a large church group in that park continued to have festivities until well past midnight.
Bike/walking paths are in great condition, have good markings so you know where you are, and give you access to the beaches, battlements, etc. Don't come to Fort Stevens without your bike. With so much to explore and so much land area to cross, walking the paths, although beautiful and relaxing, is also time consuming if you want to go someplace and see something.
With most loops partial hookup, they have to do something to help out folks with dumping their tanks. Fort Stevens has one of the largest dump station setups I've ever seen. There is a huge, 3 lane, dump station that is just outside of the park gate. I dumped twice during our stay and had no issue getting in and out. There was never a line waiting, mostly because of the number of lanes. The dump stations themselves were pretty conventional, easy access sewer tube hole with an overhead wash down wand. Potable water is available at the dump site, you pull forward to a dedicated fresh water fill faucet that is located at the exit of each dump station lane. A small number of trash receptacles are available at the dump station, they were usually mostly full, but they were being regularly dumped by park staff.
We are looking forward to coming back next year. We are going to book as early as possible to get a full hookup site so we can avoid the mid camp sojourn to the dump station. We are also equipping ourselves to take all of our bikes next year as that will really open up our enjoyment and exploration of the park.
