this is a large, well organized campground in a forest near the beach. It has everything you’ll need... hookups, dump station, clean restrooms, trash bins, paved trails to the beach, firewood for sale, tent camping.

I wish we could have added a few more days to this camping trip. There is so much to see and do at this park. You have a lake, which looks great for kayaking or paddle boarding. It seems like endless amounts of paved bike trails. The beach, which cars are allowed to drive on during certain times of the year, and with a pretty awesome ship wreck. And then there is the bunker and gun installation. The campground itself is spread out into numerous loops. Convenient pull through sites, back-in sites, tent sites, yurts, and cabins. Lots of options.
Cellular for both AT&T and Verizon were one bar (sometimes no bars) and didn’t work well, so definitely plan ahead.
If you are coming in the summer months, be prepared for the mosquitos. There can be a lot of them.

The sites were not extremely private, if that’s what you’re looking for, but we spent little time at the camp site. There’s so much to see and do at the park. The beaches are beautiful. The biking paths (a lot of them paved) are great for kids, bikers and walkers. We easily walked 6.5 miles on one day, just exploring.
Camping on the Oregon Coast in March was cold - and windy - and rainy, but we went prepared.
We highly recommend this park. The City of Astoria is nearby and fun to explore, also. If you haven’t been to WA State, it’s just across the bridge!
We will be back - next time for a longer period of time so we can explore more of the park.

The sites are ranger assigned (not always our favorite) - we told the ranger we like it quiet and it was. This place is HUGE - put out bread crumbs if you go for a walk. Lots to see & do here - our loop was a bit dry where we were and much greener at the end of the loop, but we had no one around so it was fine! Our old Lab liked the fresh water lake... I liked the walking and peace.

We parked overlooking the beach during the day and at our campsite at night. It's a 1 mile walk from the campsite to the beach. Cars, dogs, and fires are allowed on the beach. Shipwreck is fun to look at too. Lots of jellyfish washed ashore while we were there.

Only drawback was we had zero bars for AT&T and Verizon (others say they have coverage, but we were not able to find any). We were working remotely and had to head to Winchester by 5am for some ET video meetings. The benefit was that we saw several elk early in the morning just hanging out by the roads. Overall a great park and I wish we had more (non-working) time to visit.

When we first got there, the beach entrance was very soft, but after some rain, it was pretty much drivable by most vehicles.
They had recycling which was nice and every park should have. Some facilities looked closed, but the KOA across the street sold ice and beer if you forget something.
For sites without FHU, they had a nice dump station up front. ATT service wasn't great in the trees, but worked fine in open areas and on the beach

We were able to get a couple of nights here on short notice. The check-in was very slow due to one worker at the office and Covid restrictions. If I had printed out my own info, I would not have had to check-in. They have a LOT of loops here. They all have about 20 spots and one bathroom. The bathrooms were open but the showers were not. We had a nice full hookup spot. There was a sign near the sewer that encouraged the use of the dump station to dump your tanks, not the sewer hookup in your spot (?). The location is close to Astoria for any needs. OTA TV is poor, in our spot. Cell coverage for AT&T was not good, no capability of streaming. Oregon does their state parks pretty well and this one is an example of that.
