We prefer Tybee over this location as the gnats were a nuisance and had to smoke them out daily. Limited verizon cell, but functional with a booster.

We camped here in a 40' motorhome in November 2021.
We chose this park for it's proximity to Savannah, but were pleasantly surprised to discover how much we enjoyed the park itself and the town of Richmond Hill GA.
The campground is primitive in a good way, the roads are narrow and the trees are overgrown, the sites are mostly sand. Watch for tree root speed bumps on the way in. It feels like you're in nature, not at an RV park. Beautiful docks for sunrise views.
Firewood available on site, self-serve. Most sites have water and electricity (30 amp), though some have full-hookups (for an additional fee). Pull-through dump station available on way out of park.
We loved biking within the park.
The historic site and museum are very interesting and definitely worth checking out.
Nearby grocery stores, restaurants, etc all within 10-15 min in Richmond Hill.
Savannah is about 30 minutes away.

Sites are fairly well distanced for privacy. Shower house was immaculate. Easy to get to off of 95. Lots of midges, even in March.

Some of the sites are kind of close but laid out in different configurations. Some have full hook ups, some don’t, but the dump site is close and convenient We had water and electric.
Some of the sites have gravel and some, like ours are bare sand / dirt. That was a down side as we kept tracking it into our camper, despite our best efforts.
Our site also had a lot of roots to back over but we liked how it was kind of tucked in off the camp road.
Cell service was ok for AT&T and T mobile. A booster would be a plus for working folks with video call needs.
Over all a great place. We loved the feel of being in nature but still only about 40 mins from Savannah.

Fairly close to everything. The Fort was neat to see, but is an additional cost. It's worth just getting the historical site annual pass if you are going to do another spot. We went to Wormsloe too so it was worth getting the pass.
Would definitely come back again.

Very long sites, plenty of space between rows so it feels like nobody is adjacent to you. Most sites are pull-throughs. Trees are a little tight against the roads, but we saw large fifth-wheels and class A's make it through, slowly but safely. Deer wander through the campsites. Electric and water only. There is a dump station. Some sites have gravel, but most are still sand.

This is a great park with roomy private campsites in a lush setting on the edge of a huge marsh. Lots of wildlife including raccoons, lots of birds, deer, and many insects including NoSeeUms. Have that bug repellent ready when you arrive. I was a little too relaxed about it and shortly after arrival I was dealing with several bites even though I never saw a mosquito!
It looks like most of the sites are “U-shaped” pull through, some with full hooks and some with E/W only, they do have a dump station. The campground is super quiet and very far away from any road noise, as well as being gated at all times of day. The access roads from I-95 are all pretty good, but do take it slow over a couple railroad crossing on GA-144 (exit 90) as they are really rough. The spur road of GA-144 passes through a lovely area along the riverfront and just before you enter the park there is an awesome restaurant and Tiki bar called Fish Tales. The roads in the campground are rough in a few spots but nothing too bad. My campsite (#4) was in need of a mow, but was very clean and faced the marsh. We met two different sets of host while we were there, and they were very nice and welcoming! Also we got all the major OTA networks out of Savannah and were able to stream using T-Mo.
There is a historic fort onsite which we visited and enjoyed very much despite the sweltering heat. Be sure to bring some water. The fort admission was $9 and I felt we got an experience worthy of the price. Downtown Savannah is about 40 minutes away, perhaps a little shorter later in the evening. Overall we had an excellent experience at this Georgia State Park and look forward to visiting some time in the future!

No see-ums or sand fleas, not sure which, left bites that were like itchy rashes, that lasted for several days. Mosquitos were tollerable, but the other two were not. Now for positive - What a beautiful campground! Site 11 is best as it has a wonderful view of the marsh. Huge sites, nicely laid out. Good cell (tmobile and verizon) - streamed on Tmobile without issue. Great museum, which is an easy 1 mile each-way walk from campground. Fun walk to fishing dock for views of the river. Kayaks available to rent there. Deer & racoon visited our campsite. But sadly, the deer flies & biting gnats caused us to (gladly) leave early! I am not a fan of spraying poisons, but something really needs to be done about the evil, biting swarms of deer flies.

We found the campground to be so quiet and clean. We arrived Friday night around 8, just in time to capture a beautiful sunset from our site (#9). Sadly, the weekend we went was stormy and a tornado watch for the area was issued around 10 a.m. Saturday and it was expected to last through 6 p.m.
We arrived after hours and found it was easy to pick up our temporary tag and code to the gate.
Site 9, a premium site with electricity, water, and sewer. I selected this one specifically for the marsh views (that we sadly saw little of once the rain started). A review on Campendium indicated this site was good for sunrise views, but it turned out to be the opposite. The sunset from our campsite was beautiful and would likely have been even better if the clouds had cleared. The sunrise was visible from the boat dock, which is closest to the tent-only sites. Site 9 has a very long driveway, which dwarfed our little camper but also gave us a bit more privacy. The sites in this section of the campground are spread further apart from each other than the other loops.
The number of bars on Verizon varied depending on where we were as we walked around the campground, but it varied between 1 and 2 bars and 3 bars with WeBoost back at our site. We only hooked up to electricity and didn't use the water or sewer. We found the bathhouse near our site clean. We broke camp and drove down to Fish Tales restaurant just outside the park entrance in order to wait out part of the storm. Originally we had planned to drive to Savannah but the storms kept us at the park.
Friday night we had two deer walk right through our camp, and raccoons walk right up to our chairs while we were in them. We would come back here, but probably not until we have had a chance to try to explore every other state park in Georgia.

It’s a shame the state government in Georgia finds it acceptable to fly so many lone confederate flags in the office/“museum” of this park.
As soon as you walk in you see two large confederate flags hanging and many other ones throughout, including miniature ones for sale at the front desk.
We aren’t talking about a private citizens freedom of speech here, we are talking about a governments refusal to accept the loss and recognize the hate, violence, and enslavement the flag represents.
When I gave this feedback to the women working the front desk, they said nothing but “have a good day, sir”
It’s clear this park is only for white, racist southerners. All others are made to feel excluded.
The sad part is, the park itself is beautiful.
