Fort Kaskaskia State Park

We were thrilled to see the dump station with fresh water prior to entering the campground. Figuring, if we couldn't fit in a site - our tanks were empty and had full fresh water. As it turned out - there were plenty of campsites available and ALL of them would fit a large rig comfortably.

All the sites have electric available - we were not given the option to boondock for a reduced rate. There have been many improvements made to the campsites - I believe the only sites without power are now the tent sites, which are located in the center grassy area amongst the pine trees. Our site was on the main outer loop - level, with a grassy area directly behind the site, which worked beautifully for our 16' cargo trailer - DID NOT NEED TO UNHOOK.

We were directly under an oak tree that was loaded with acorns ---- little bombs hitting us all night - but other than that, it was a really comfortable site. Did not see any sites with a "view".....nice walking, though.

This is a nice campground located near the Mississippi River. Electricity is available for an extra $10/night, 30,50 & 120. We opted to boondock, the price is $8 for the site. I believe there are 24 sites, that includes tent only

All sites are back in concrete. Each site has a fire ring, Grill & picnic table. Water is available via hand pump. Pit toilets & trash receptacles in multiple locations At the entrance/exit of the park, there is a dump station & fresh water fill

Roads are all paved. I took several walks on the road. There is old cemetery on the site, very interesting. Also a lookout point, overlooking the Mississippi River

The park has a small playground & several picnic areas, less than 1/2 mile walk
