There’s one bathhouse that’s quite an uphill walk from the lakeside sites. The whole loop is on a steep hill, but the actual sites are level. It’s gated and you need a code to enter. We loved this campground and will definitely return.

As with most other COE campgrounds, the sites here are huge, nicely gravelled and fairly level. Some have long driveways to them. Some are way back off the road, some are right on the road. Some sites are very close together, but given the enormity of the sites, those don't pose too much of a privacy issue. Other sites offer great privacy. Choose carefully when making a reservation, though I wouldn't be disappointed with any site here.
This is a very hilly campground as others have mentioned. On top of that, the roads through the park aren't super wide and have significant drop-offs on the edges in some areas. As others have stated, beware if you have a rig over 30 feet, even though every site here could easily accommodate any sized rig. It's the maneuvering which presents an issue at some sites for those with larger rigs.
There is only one bath house here and it seems to have been updated or built fairly recently. It is located at the very beginning of the first loop. It could be quite an uphill walk for those not close by. The bathrooms have 2 large shower stalls, but they are a little light on hooks and especially a place to put your shower items, i.e. soap, shampoo, razor. Otherwise the bathroom facilities are nice and clean as well.
Each site has water, electric, a large picnic table, a grill, a utility table and lantern hook. There is a dump station near the entry house.
All in all, a fairly typical COE campground as far as the sites and amenities are concerned. Hard to go wrong here.

Staff is awesome and the Blue Ridge Parkway and wineries are close. Reservoir is beautiful but we needed to drive to access the water.
Cell service was spotty and super slow. Around 2Mbps down on my Verizon cell phone throughout our weekend stay. Fun for the weekend but we couldn’t work from here.

Well worth a couple nights, or longer!

Be aware that all of the sites on this row require backing uphill in to your site which is gravel. We used 4WD on our truck to avoid throwing gravel and digging up the driveway. The sites in this area are very private and we will absolutely be back! We had 2 bars of Verizon that went to 3 bars with our MiMo antenna.

Access road was a little narrow to navigate and there is a steep grade between spot 26-28. I am glad we did not need to drive it in the rain. Flooding of the lower access road occurred whilst we were there.
Our site was very level where we parked the trailer, but a steep exit. Nothing the truck couldn't handle though. Shame we could not have a BBQ because the picnic area looked great, with a separate table for the grill.
Supplies and big box stores about 15 mins drive

Water and power at each site. Shady and beautiful overlooking the lake. Bushwacker Falls Trail was very easy and pleasant with a pretty musical falls and area to cool your feet. Small beach and several nice picnic shelters with families happily swimming and eating. Clean vault toilets and a central updated bathhouse. Easy access to the trash dumpsters , firewood and dump station . Nice place to go for peace and quiet. Our price was only $ per might with National Park Pass.
