Any tips or tricks as to how to score a site here? Many have shared their frustration with the reservation site even saying it is archaic. Help!

Their system has been updated in the past several years but remains difficult to navigate and not very friendly for filtering searches. Best approach—call the office every day and have them run a search with your criteria.

It definitely is an older system and not the easiest process but if you follow it and a site is available, it will work! It was definitely worth the hassle. Especially if you can score a waterfront site.

It is frustrating you really have to book 6 months in advance yet Pinellas county residents can book 7 months in advance. People do cancel you can keep checking. They used to open spots on Friday mornings held back spots but they stopped it. We have the same problem at Bahia Honda in the keys it’s just as bad even 11 months in advance.

Yes, they have hold over sites that come online every Friday at 7am. Here's a blog on how to snag those. It's worked for me in the past but you can't be picky. Have your account already set up and logged in and grab whatever you can at 7amET on Friday. https://www.technomadia.com/2016/04/trials-and-tribulations-of-getting-a-spot-at-fort-de-soto-park-tierra-verde-fl/

It’s awful! Total agree. You need to be ready 6 months exactly to the day you want it. Or, wait until much closer to the date. I called once and they told me there were as many cancellations as there are reservations.

This campground is hugely popular so it is difficult/challenging to get a spot. But it depends on when you are looking This winter I had to move 4 times over the course of a week. There is no getting through the challenges of the reservation system as far as I know. Be sure to use the reservation system on a PC with Chrome and that might help, and start here - https://secure.rec1.com/FL/pinellas-county-fl/catalog - and register (get a user name and PW). From there, don't worry about the filters on the left side. Scroll down and select the section (1, 2, or 3), but the GRID view is by far the best. Then adjust your dates and start looking for green squares. In addition, if you are limited by either the (large) size of your rig or having a pet, then you're more likely to have difficulty finding a spot. If looking before January you'll have better luck. Good luck!

It's terrible... showing up at the front gate to get a spot for a day or two max. Then make another attempt at the office to get more days the morning of checkout. Good luck!
