At 7100' elevation, on the Anderson Mesa south of Flagstaff, Ashurst Lake is a hidden gem of Arizona camping...and the camp host is a great guy! Along with the Ashurst Lake campground (Forked Pine is one one side, Ashurst on the other side of the lake) Vic keeps this campground in tip-top shape, is friendly and helpful without being bothersome or a 'campground Nazi'. The campsites are well spread out around the lake, which can be fished for Rainbow Trout and Northern Pike. Campsites have fire rings with cooking grates, there are vault toilets (composting) and drinking water is available - trucked in from the nearby PineGrove campground.
