We decided to check out this boondocking spot after our reservations at the North Rim Campground were cancelled and we're sooo glad we did! We were meeting friends so finding a place large enough for 2 rigs on a weekend was a bit of a challenge, but we were blessed to happen onto this location on a rim! We were also right on the Arizona Trail so we had plenty of hiking and the views out our door were spectacular! We had some coverage with our Verizon cell and our MiFi, enough to make some calls and send some pictures, but it wasn't much. We'll definitely be looking to stay here again!

The spot on the right wasn't marked and was heavily treed, more-so than those further in. We got here on a Wednesday so there was probably 50% availability At the time. The sites are far apart and we heard no one. The only downside is the traffic on 611 stirring up dust, especially those that drive too fast. I’m guessing that most of the traffic was probably People scouting for spots because no trailers went by all afternoon.

So we decided to come try this location after passing other dispersed sites. We came in on a Friday late afternoon. We have a 25’ Winnebago View and as we were driving the long gravel road we allowed a couple of vehicles to pass us because we were going pretty slow. DON’T DO THAT.
When we finally made it to the sites they are all along the road and the earlier ones have the bigger sites on the rim. The two vehicles we allowed to pass us happens to be taking up the last two good sites.
We continued on to where the road takes a Y and the site down the spur road was taken. We didn’t go down to the end because the road gets pretty rough and you should have a 4wd to go down it.
We drove back down the road and there was one side pull off on the road that was literally the only site available. Not ideal but the site was amazing other than parking parallel to the road. We made it work for the amazing view and experience.

We have a truck with rwd and locking differential. Don’t try it with a camper or trailer! Huge spot; we had it all to ourselves. Room for a few vehicles and lots of tents in the clearing. Awesome canyon views, shaded by pines. We only stayed here one night because of the forecasted storms. Made it back up the hill and moved to Marble View.

Very long drive up. Almost 7 miles. At the Y we went right. We have a 32' TT was a nightmare getting in and out of the 611PD spot. I thought for sure we were not making it out... took us almost an hour. Definitely recommend a smaller TT.
Weather was nice even when it was blazing at the rim in the 90's we had a cool 80 degree day.

We spent 10 days here on the edge of the valley looking into the Grand Canyon. This is not on the Grand Canyon ridge, but looking our over the valley to the Canyon itself. Still a magnificent view and very private. Road 611 is the main entrance into this area and 610 is reached about 2 miles in which would take you 15 miles to Saddle Mountain, which is indeed on the Grand Canyon ridge. We decided to stay on 611 and it takes you back 6 miles to the end with many sites along the way, the better sites being farthest back. The road in is gravel and very well maintained so no problem at all getting in here. I would easily drive a Class A in here no problem, but it could be a challenge finding a place to turn around if over 34 feet. There is a gas station and small grocery store 1/2 mile from the entrance to 611 off HWY 67 leading to the Visitors center. The sites are really nice with fire rings made from rocks and stones and no need to bring firewood as the woods are filled with plenty. We had 2 bars of Verizon LTE and were able to stream Youtube TV the entire time we were here...amazing! Highly recommend this area if looking for privacy, views and free camping at its best! The only thing which was an issue for us was the wind and I assume it was this time of year (October), which were very gusty and at times a little scary at night.

We chose 611T about 6 miles in...a pull through site, because we're not yet very good at backing up. 611T is a really big site, and we loved all the space. You can situate yourself to get pretty good afternoon solar too.
You're 2 miles down the road from the AZT. I biked a few miles in both directions from the trailhead, which was fun, but the trail is really more of a foot path you can bike on, not a mountain bike trail per se.
Verizon LTE is not bad with a booster, non-existent without. Good enough for emails and light internet searching...no good for streaming.
The road is well maintained, no ruts or problems at all. Occasional washboard, but no 4WD needed.

We’ve been on a trip for 2 months with this being the last point of interest. We’ve used Campendium almost exclusively and have become hooked on boondocking. We can stay for a week before we need to discharge and recharge. This spot was a dream come true. We will be back again. The views are once in a lifetime camp spot. We are sitting here now drinking our morning coffee. Highs 70’s and nights are low 40’s. We managed to get our 40 ft class A down the road...slowly. Plus we got her in the trees with careful maneuvering. Few ruts and somewhat rough but taking it slow was fine. If it were to rain we wouldn’t try it. Quiet...saw folks once in awhile. Verizon speed 3-4 bars without booster. I’m in grad school and good internet is a must. No problems here. We’re able to stream Netflix. Thank you to the reviewer who put gps coordinates up for our spot!

Continue N on 611P to the end of the road. We took the next to last site on the rim of a beautiful side canyon off Grand Canyon. We spent an extra day just enjoying the peace & quiet, with a walk along the ridge north toward Dog Canyon. Lovely sunrises with bonus of Harvest moonrise.
