“Great site”

This was our first boondocking experience. Beautiful scenery, we stayed in the 4th site. We stayed May 11th, 2018. We stayed on the weekend so most of the sites were full but still very peaceful. We had one bar of ATT LTE, no Verizon signal. There was a burn ban in effect however propane fire pits were allowed. Angel Fire is the closest town, about 15 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again.

“Beautiful, cool, and free!”

This is a perfect escape from the summer heat! It's about 9,000 feet up, and everything is cool, green, and peaceful up here. You can stake out a boondocking spot along the road, and feel like you have the whole forest to yourself.

There are a number of places with fire rings scattered along the road. I stopped at the third one that I saw, and had a beautiful place. It was at a clearing in the forest, with a meadow on one side, and a creek running by on the other. A few people drove by while I was there, but most of the time it was totally quiet, and nobody camped within visual distance.

This lovely boondocking spot is in the mountains of New Mexico, not far east of Taos. If you're heading east from Taos on 64, turn left onto Forest Road 5 shortly before Agua Fria. It's a wide dirt road, that was in excellent condition when I was there and good for any vehicle (at least as far as I went). With a 21' rig I had no problems getting to a campsite off the road.

It's boondocking, so there are no facilities. Also no cell service. Just peace and quiet, and the sound of dozens of birds out enjoying the day.
