As someone who works remotely, this was a rare gem…strong signal that supports video calls. Also easy access and beautiful sites.

This is a fantastic spot gem of woods and privacy, PLEASE read the rest BEFORE getting there to avoid catastrophic consequences.
My husband and i have a rule when looking for camping spots, a rule that we did not follow due to the positive reviews about abundant large spots. Our rule is: Drop and Scout.
PLEASE if you are going in a pull behind camper, drop the camper at the beginning of the road and scout. If you don’t, you might end up like we did driving backwards down the mountain for 3 miles at a snails pace.
1. This place is fantastic and private IF you know where to look for a spot. Google map, does not show the actual entrance to this place, it has 2 entrances neither of which lead here, the real entrance is in between those. I put a photo showing where.
2. There are 2 spots on the left before you come to a turn, if you fit there, great. I posted photos of those as well.
3. Going straight at the first turn is a TRAP. Turn right the first chance you get. DO NOT go straight at the turn. PLEASE DONT DO IT. Going straight is what led us to get so deep into one way road into the mountain that we had to back down the mountain backwards for almost 2 hours…… TURN RIGHT. If you go straight, there’s no way to turn around even in a small camper. Turn right at the turn there’s a yellow sign by the turn, don’t go straight. Photo posted.
4. When you turn right, there are about 5-7 spots. The first spot/spots on the right could be great for a large group or couple campers with adequate privacy. One of the entrances has a bit of a steep dip. There’s a spot to the left before the creek where we parked, also in photos. Going straight from there, there’s a spot right by the Thielsen creek sign that’s kind of private. And a spot on the left that can be for multiple campers or a group spot. It’s difficult to turn around if you get to the end and there’s no spots so SCOUT first.
This place had great Verizon and T-Mobile service, worked from the camper off of both with no issues. Definitely visit Diamond Lake, it’s scenic and nice. We rented a boat and went fishing for the day which was super amazing. There’s a gas station and a small convenience store by diamond lake resort, they don’t have a whole lot but can carry you over if you need something.
The spots are pretty private and spacious. We stayed there a couple weeks and no one was around. Loved this place once we got settled, hated the first day due to circumstances we could’ve avoided.

Lots of trees for cover. It’s basically a road through a forest of large trees.
Very close to many waterfalls.
Bring bug repellent. Dry camping with no bathrooms or trash. Limited Verizon service. Email, and txt were slow but doable.
We would absolutely stay here again.

We found a spot in the trees, a pull through with cell service too. Only about 25 minute drive to Crater Lake (north entrance). Only one other camper in the area and never saw them. Small amount of road noise from Umpqua Hwy but nothing too bad. Very quiet otherwise. Nice stream nearby.
I recommend taking a scout vehicle in first to make sure you can find a spot, we really only found three good spots, all pull throughs. Not many places to turn around. I think a big rig would be fine as long as you scout ahead. We have a 32’ class C pulling a 16’ flatbed trailer with our car on it but did scout ahead and wouldn’t have a place to turn around if no spots available.
So when you turn on Forest road 4792, drive about a quarter mile or less to a road on your right, turn right. There will be a spot on your right (pull through but lots of dirt), a road that goes left with a spot right there, or go straight and at the end of the road is a pretty sweet spot under the trees (our spot).
My husband works remote and had no issues. Verizon MiFi with booster 30.1 mbps download and 6.5 mbps upload. T-mobile cell had full bars and could browse internet.
Windigo Pass Road review: we stopped here to unload the car and drive to scout the Forest road. It’s just north of the Forest road. You could potentially camp here overnight or however long you want I guess. It does have a big concrete area right off the road big enough for several campers. I wouldn’t want to stay a few days here because of how close it is to the highway and we were leaving our rig to go to Crater Lake. But an overnighter would be fine I think. It’s a good spot to leave your rig to go scout the Forest road across the street.

Stayed in a slightly hidden site through the woods behind the first site. Right next to a creek with a great watering hole. Some bugs, but not more than you'd expect. 2 bars of at&t, but very fast. About 30 minutes from Crater Lake, can't ask for much more.
