A different reviewer indicated you could head further in on Forest Rd 300 but I wanted to leave this review to say that it will be unpassable to most vehicles. There are large humps almost immediately after the initial parking area. I didn't dare take our Honda C-RV over it and there is no way an RV would be able to maneuver.
I had a tough time turning around even in my smaller vehicle.
If those first two sites are open, it's a decent spot to camp but really close to the main road, and you can bet you'll have some cyclists wanting to park there.
We instead went back towards town about a mile and had success at Forest Road 260 (see review)

With a late arrival and an early meeting in Bend i had to find a place to camp quickly and close to town while still being able to wake up in a beautiful setting. A quick search on Campendium quickly brought up quite a few places to camp close to Bend. The most convenient place for me was Forest Road 300 located only 10 minutes outside of town, and even though there weren't any reviews, i had a good feeling.
Right when you pull on to Forest Road 300 you will see a spot on the left side able to park at least 2 vans, throw up a few tents, and you will find many trees perfect for hanging your hammock. There is no grass in the area and the ground is hard, however, the spots are smooth and flat so with the right gear you will sleep like a baby.
As you continue down the road it becomes a bit rough with rocks an roots in the roadway, you will still be able to continue in just about any vehicle as long as the proper precautions are taken.
Luckily for our photography lovers out there the area produces a very minimal amount of light pollution creating an amazing opportunity to view and photograph the night sky all night long.
