I camped at a large site 300' feet from FR 140 so the road noise and dust wasn't bad at all. Somebody left old boards and a large sheet of chip board. I camped at a large site 300' feet from FR 140 so the road noise and dust wasn't bad at all. Somebody left old boards and a large sheet of chip board. There was some toilet paper close by so I was careful not to step in anything. I wish campers would bring a bucket and pack it out. Other than that the site was relatively clean. Some days Verizon service was unusable for hours at a time even when my phone was showing 2-3 bars. On Thursday and Friday afternoons the internet was so bad I gave up on it. On other days videos would intermittently buffer even on the lowest quality settings. On Saturday the internet was too slow to use all day. Sometimes texting was slow. Calls didn't go through or reception was poor. It was a good place to camp unless you need reliable cell phone service.

We wanted to camp near Dogtown Lake, but not on the west side along Dogtown Road because of the dust and the logging which has made it less desirable for camping, so we opted for the east side of the lake along Forest Road 140. We stayed there in June 2020 for Father's Day weekend. There are plenty of sites to choose from, and most can accommodate multiple RVs. There are some other roads that shoot off this road with more sites, but we found it was better to scout ahead because the roads weren't all passable. We chose a site set a ways back from the road so that we wouldn't catch all the dust of passing vehicles, and it ended up being a great decision because of how dusty it was. The advantage to being on Forest Road 140 vs. Dogtown Road is that the sites on our side were padded by pine needles, helping keep the dust down. There were lots of UTVs around, which we don't mind, Dogtown Lake was less than a mile to the west, and Scholz Lake and White Horse Lake about 10 miles to the east. The town of Williams is a short drive away also, where there are grocery options and touristy options too. We would definitely stay here again!
