Forest Road 10 Dispersed Camping

Stay from Sept 1st to the 4th. Boondockers here, This was a quiet and peaceful stay. Perfect for anything 30ft or less. Everyone kept to themselves and made for a very relaxing weekend. Definitely would stay here again. PS If you like humming birds, bring your feeder. 3-4 birds at any given time and they landed on my shoulder and my hat a couple of tikes. They don’t seem to be afraid of people. Happy camping!

Nice if you plan to start a few days. Word to the wise, do not go past the spots. We had quite the sketchy turn around to get back. Easy access right or left of gps marker. If your rig is low profile, note there are drainage trenches on either side of road that you have to traverse.

It wasn’t a good fit for us, too far off the beaten path and we were just passing through. But it was lovely, and we had a fun little hike westwards up a little Mesa.

Dispersed camping in the Jemez National Forest. There are about 6-8 spots along the side of FR10 that are trailer friendly. I’ve got a 28’ fifth wheel and had no problems. FR10 is an improved gravel road. It’s a little “wash-boarded” in some places but not too bad.

There is some traffic noise during the day. People use FR10 for access to the forest for cutting fire wood. There are some free range cattle. It gets busy on the weekends due to people from Albuquerque camping and riding ATV’s.

1 bar Verizon LTE that goes to 2-3 bars with my cell booster. If you’re headed here in the winter call the Ranger Station to check to see if they have closed the road.
