This area is not as busy with OHVs and much better for camping but be warned it is HOT in the summer.

The camping area on the south side of the Hwy has the best view. It’s a bit rough driving thru the area, it goes uphill slightly. Low profile rigs like our Airstream or low clearance vans etc should use caution for rocks or low spots.

I’ve gone dirtbiking here before over the years; this time it was a snow camp. A couple campsites had rocks set up for a campfire. There are a couple restrooms around the area. Good wide roads.
There’s a dirt parking lot that’s hard to miss, all other dirt roads off the high way aren’t so easy to spot.

Great for OHV. That’s about it. Not the best place to camp. You can stay for 14 days for free. Outhouses are spread throughout. It’s loud in the afternoon with all OHV’s everywhere.

Let me first say that we didn’t realize until daybreak that we had pulled onto the wrong side of the road for camping. We turned right off the highway & in daylight it was obviously that the site (with a large billboard & vault toilet) was on the left side of the highway from Salt Lake City.
Alas, I would say that we were undisturbed until around 6AM when a series of huge trucks begin passing directly by our site up the washboard road & returning loaded with rocks. The night sky was beautiful (as I imagine it would be in the correct site across the highway) with some big city light & occasional airplanes. Highway noise/traffic died off pretty quickly after
9PM.
On the quarry side, road was decent but we were tired & stayed close to highway after reading sign that it was several miles between BLM land at entrance & BLM on the other side of private property (aka the quarry).
Lesson: always helpful to scope ahead in the daytime & leave no trace!

Almost endless spots, most of which are very flat. There are a lot of ATVs around, which is what the area is most known for. I let my kids go play in the dirt/sand and go looking for shotgun shells or whatever crazy things people have shot out there. Unimpeded view of the sky for stargazing (but still close enough to the city that there is light pollution). Flat highway leads all the way there until you get off on a dirt road to find your spot. This is my go-to if I can't think of anything else. No fees to pay and is only about 40 minutes off I15

Free Camping on BLM land, 14 day limit.
Bring your off road vehicle, as this is the place to play.
Vault toilets available.
Access right off the main road, with many sites further up dirt roads.
