There was a mixup with our reservation and we lucked out and were able to pick our spot. We were the last site before the laundry/bath house. Tent sites are right long the river. There are a lot of gnats and flies here. I would say due mainly to the geese that inhabit the tent areas. There are a couple of restaurants in town. We tried the Dugout Diner for lunch and it was really good.

I was at Five River Campgrounds for the month of June, and my experience there was consistently great the entire stay! The owners are friendly and extremely helpful, and the campground was well maintained. The electric, sewer, and water hookups work well, and the RV sites are reasonably level. Picture a farm with trees surrounded by mountains and a beautiful lake situated in a very small mountain town, but also with GREAT WIFI!!! For tent campers, the primitive campsites by the river are absolutely beautiful! And each campsite has a fire ring, and there's plenty of firewood... delivered right to your site upon request! I've been to numerous campgrounds, and I would rate this as one of the best remote camping spots I've been to. Highly recommend!

Good access to the river if you enjoy fishing or tubing. A quick jaunt through town leads you to the Allegheny Highland trail - a paved/graveled bike path. TONS of hiking in the area - really beautiful wilderness jaunts.
This is the rare private RV park type campground that I would consider tent camping at. Lots of space for tents - much of it along the river.
This campground was built as an 'afterthought' to the festival that the owners, Joyce and John, host yearly: Pickin' in Parsons. The layout of the campsites reflects this. Most are pretty tightly packed in, which is not an issue on weekdays. Weekends, however, got a bit dicey sometimes.
The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They greet you on arrival and direct you to your site. They even provided us with boards so that we could park our big rig on a site that was questionable in terms of 'getting stuck' if it rained too much. They 'fetched' mail from their P.O. if we had something delivered.
Most of the sites are grass - some have some graveling on the pads. Again, pretty tightly packed if you're in a space with hook-ups, which is only an issue on weekends, but is exacerbated by the lack of designation between sites. Also, this tended to be a 'group camping' campground, so expect families communing together in groups - things can get smokey, loud, and generally gleeful. Lots of families, but no playground or picnic tables provided.
The site we chose, site 47, happened to be an 'end cap' in the less busy (away from the river) area of the park. The site was grass, which grew quickly, but was mowed once a week.
Sadly, we didn't sleep well nearly ANY night we were here. There are dogs on the other side of the fence - not belonging to anyone in the campground, but to a neighbor. These dogs bark. ALL. NIGHT. LONG. We had to pull out our sound machine - used typically only for rest area overnights. The campground hosts said that they have tried to implement strategies to keep the dogs from barking but... oh good god the barking. If it wasn't for the barking, this park would be incredibly peaceful at night. Unless you were blessed with rowdy campground neighbors. Or neighbors who run their A.C. non-stop. Because again, closely packed sites.
And we did have one weekend with a closely packed in neighboring group. They were friendly. But loud. And oh so close. Our awning nearly touched their slide out. Which was the other 'knock' we had on this park. The terrible spacing. Sadly, there were many vacant spots available the weekend we were closely neighbored - but somehow, we still got 'neighbored'.
Overall, the park is rustic in its layout - pretty, if you like grass, but dotted with maintenance buildings. The price is decent - full hook-ups 50A/30A, water, sewer. The water is 'black water' - so be ready for that!
Verizon (postpaid) is extended for data, but you can make calls. AT&T calling and data works fine!

Have been there several times now and love it! One of our favorite spots with beautiful river, clean facilities and super friendly hosts! Nice camp store, well stocked. The hosts Joyce and John lead you to your site and make sure you have all that you need, firewood, etc. No tables but otherwise, great camping experience.
