By the end of the weekend there were a total of 5 trailers in the campground. This was a wonderful, quiet, peaceful place to camp for a weekend. Yes there are a couple of potholes at the entrance, but one should expect pot holes when turning from pavement to gravel, and after a cattleguard. The rest of the road was fine.
Some sites had gravel pads, others did not, but we were able to find a great site right on the river that was nice and level (without a gravel pad). Every site had a fire ring, picnic table, and was mowed. This campground is a great launching point for adventure, and the fees go to a good cause.
Brian would stay here again

I did not stay here, opted to boondock further down the road and save myself $12. Got a better site for free than I would have gotten here. Camping fees are: $12 with a MT fishing license, $18 without. And those are halved if you are over 62 years of age. Camp is wide open and typically the Big Hole Valley is pretty windy. Camp is wide open and typically the Big Hole Valley is pretty windy. Mosquitoes abound. Looking at google maps one would assume that the camp consists of 26 sites but only 13 of those sites are maintained. The rest of the sites are just a gravel parking pad overrun with weeds and do not have a table/fire ring, or ID #...so maybe those ones are free?!?! Great if you want to float or fish the Big Hole but not much of a draw for anything else.
The entrance road has several large pot holes so you must go slow or risk rearranging your cabinets. Two moderately maintained pit toilets - read: pack your own emergency TP. No potable water, no trash. Only the sites closest to the river have a table and fire ring. As you pull in the loop on the right has 5 sites that share 3 parking pads. If someone has a large rig or just didn't want to share there may only be enough room for 3 rigs here. And the loop on the left has the remaining sites - 8 or 21 depending on what you consider a campsite.
Plenty of other camping options in the area - both free and paid - I would consider this a last resort.
