We really enjoyed staying here. It was very private and we had a gorgeous spot right on Lake Michigan with beautiful blue waters. But we had no cell service to work and had to leave earlier than we wanted to. Check in after 9/21 is first come first serve and you pay in a slot (which blended in and was hard to see) and are supposed ... more

The sites are very big especially by Michigan State Parks standards. You have a lot of room between you and your neighbor. There are some really nice sites that sit on the edge of the lake but these book up months in advance according to the park ranger. There are no showers and the toilets are the vault type. We stayed here over 4th of July weekend. One reason was we wanted to see the Cherry Festival in Traverse City and we wanted to go to Mackinaw Island. This campground is one hour from each place and directly in the middle. There is a small town about 20 minutes away from the campground. The camping fees are $13 a night. The ranger c... more
