The park was very busy during the day with people walking their dogs and walking around the park. It was very quiet and the spots were level enough. The only additions that would be nice would be a few lights in the parking lot and maybe a dog park.
Would camp here again when we are in the area.

I was pleasantly suprised by this little gem. There are only 5 campsites, but they are full hookups looking over a small river. The sites are next to a town park and during the day people come to play and walk dogs. It was very pleasant. There is not much to do around there, but there is another park nearby to walk to as well. We wanted to look out over the river instead of at the park, so we parked the RV backwards and ran the hoses under the RV. It worked great - we felt very private even when there were people in the park. At night the park gates are closed. Noise was not an issue, except one evening for about 30 min some teenagers decided to do wheelies in the parking lot after it was dark. The woman who took the reservation is really nice and even gave me her cell in case we had any questions or issues. We were there in January and during the 5 night stay there were only two other RV's that camped there, each for one night. It is a much nicer spot than the other RV parks we saw around there. I don't remember how many bars we had, but cell phone connection was not an issue.

Number is at front of the park. Police lock the gates around 10:00PM. I stayed when we have had a lot of rain lately and she said she would let me know if there was any danger of flooding. She also asked me if there was anything she could help me find in town. Very nice!!

The phone number was to a city office and a city ambassador came over to our site and collected after 5 pm. Very friendly and willing to share places to eat and shop. The Leon River flows along the park with plenty of shady trees. Sites are along side pull through. They have 8 RV sites with water, electric & sewer. Park has 2 flushing toilets and one shower, of which could use some cleaning. Park is busy with families, walkers and car cruisers.

There are many ACOE sites on nearby lakes as well as State and County, but alas all were full. We found this little gem and set up in 1 of the 5 sites remaining after last Octobers floods which damaged the other 3 sites.
The sites are side pull-thrus. Each has 30&50amp, 110, water and sewer.
We were greeted at 5pm by a City representative and paid the $20/night fee to her. She gave us the City rundown, places to shop and eat and was quite friendly.
The park is located within a city park on the outskirts of Gatesville. There is a picinic pavilion, playground equipment, walking/running trail, frisbee golf and fishing on the Leon River (steep banked here though). The restroom/shower is located in the pavilion area but alas, left a great deal to be desired so we opted not to use it.
Park is well lit and patrolled. Gate "closes" at 11

It is a city park that is on a loop on a bluff around the riverbend. The park is on the inside and on one side of the loop, they have level pull-thru spots on ashphalt with full hookups. There are also cement picnic table nooks that overlook the river as well. The park gets some visitors during the day and early evening (mostly joggers/walkers and an occasional group of kids). It is very quiet in the evening. A plus: a pure white peacock walked right through my site!
You'll need to call and let them know you're coming and pay at City Hall which is not too far away. This park is located just a few blocks from the middle of downtown so is very convenient.
