“Nice time at Father Dyer”

Father Dyer is back a bit further from Turquoise Lake than the adjacent campgrounds. However the campsites are larger and the facilities newer. We enjoyed our spacious campsite. It was about a 1/3 mile walk to the lake which as fine with us. The camp host was helpful. We would return.
Jim would stay here again

Beautiful campground on beautiful Turquoise Lake, the campsites vary in size finding a site for a larger RV of 30' or more difficult, sites are back ins. This is "dry camping" or like boondocking, but you have to pay. No hookups, however with most campers pretty well self contained, not really a problem. The big draw here is the lake, and fishing, shore fishing is good, boat fishing better...very small launching dock, very very small....not so much water skiing as the water is ice cold, coming off the high peaks...after all you are in the mountains elevation over 10,000 feet. The nearest town is Leadville.....which has a charm all it's own, mainly no building codes...you will see what I mean fairly quickly. This is a town whose claim to fame is "city in the clouds", the highest peak in Colorado is Mount Elbert which can clearly be seen, with it's sister Mount Massive. The sites are nice, good trees as long as they last...what with beetle kill taking the Lodge Pole pines out...a trajedy. This campground and lake gets heavy pressure in the summer especially the weekends.....reserving a site for weekends is a must!!!! The views from the lake are to die for, the air is crisp, and the stars at night so bright....campfires here are amazng...like they were meant to be.
