There was one on our site that made me nervous as it was right over the site and leaning towards the camper. On our way out we saw another very large dead tree had actually fallen over across 2 sites. Luckily they appeared unoccupied. Bathrooms also outdated.

We stayed on a Feb 2022 weekend with great weather. The bathroom and showers were kept clean and are in a great condition. Due to my forgetfulness, the camping stove was left behind at home. At first, I was ready to drive 30+ minutes to LaGrange to a Walmart to buy one, but I stumbled into Pine Mountain just 5 minutes from the campground. Since it was a short 2 night stay, we just decided to enjoy Pine Mountain's restaurants - be sure to try 3 Pigs BBQ, Unique Expressions Coffee Shop & Cafe, and Eddie Mae's Country Kitchen, if you don't want to cook all meals at camp.
We hiked the Wolfden Loop trail and enjoyed the small waterfalls, but there are lots of trails to choose from here. Another good hike is around Dowdell's Knob.
Overall we liked this campground and the facilities and would return.

Cell:
Verizon 6.77 down 0.16 up
ATT 61.0 down 4.78 up
Didn’t record tmobile but was similar to Verizon
No WiFi at camp
Camp: all gravel
Area 1 has FHU, no shade, sites close together like at an RV park, nearest the lake. Recommend site 101- more private with a great view.
Area 2 w/e, shade or partial shade. Private, more spread out. Recommend 206 and 208- door faces a beautiful bubbling creek.
Area 3 w/e- has a gravel road getting to it (unlike 1&2 which is paved). A bit pitted and some are not as level. Looks more undone. However site 301 is fantastic. Private pull thru facing the creek.
There is no area 4 - why?? Where is area 4? By Area 51?
Area 5- w/e entirely shaded, note this is 1/2 mile away from all the trails, lake, activities. It’s very densely wooded. Felt isolated in there. But that may be your thing.
Area 6- intended to be tent sites but there is water and electric including 30amp. The tent pad and picnic pad are perfectly level. But the driveway where the car (or camper) would be parked are bumpy and super not level. Face the woods and lovely though.
Facilities
A camp store at the office and a smaller version at camp has some fun things- ice cream, trinkets, candy.
Not on the map but exists- laundry. In each bathroom building.
Bathrooms are clean.
Trails!! Lots of well marked trails and open areas to walk around in. Boating. Really nice playgrounds- modern, music, it’s awesome.
Great stay- adding to my favorites.

This is a classic Civilian Conservation Corps state park located near the Little White House and the Pine Mountain Trail. Staff we met were very friendly and the facilities are in pretty good shape for their age. The restrooms and showers were clean. Budgets are a problem everywhere, but a few small maintenance items would go along way towards improving the park. Our site had some erosion, and during a heavy rain we had about 3 inches of standing water in our site which took the better part of the night to drain off. However, this wouldn’t keep me from going back. We enjoyed visiting Warm Springs and a nearby winery.

We arrived at night in a light rain an were able to find our site without trouble. There is a gate code the park called and gave us ahead of time for after 10pm but we got in just before. Our site was on the small lake and well shaded, level and plenty big for our 18’ camper. There are many nice sites with views of the lake and good distance between them. The camp host was friendly and attentive and we were able to buy ice and wood from him and he brought it to us. There is a nice and easy hiking trail right from the campground following a small stream where we saw an amazing array of fungus. Lots of other trails a short drive away. The campground was very clean. There is a playground and saw that there are canoes/kayaks/paddle boats (we did not use) and a few people fishing. The bath house is older but clean and everything worked. Would love to visit again in the spring to see the native azalea and mountain laurel in bloom.

Highlight was trip to Little While House and Dowdell's Knob. A must visit for a thorough history of FDR. Pack a lunch and picnic at his favorite spot, Dowdell's Knob. Then you can hike the trails and work off your lunch. Very quiet during the week but come Friday is was packed full with families and kids.

While many of the RV site, are listed as 50 feet and some even more, many of the pull through sites, are "turn through" sites. As they have a major turn in the middle of them, making them unusable to larger RV's.
The campground roads themselves are narrow and with 1 foot drop offs right at the edge that would blow a tire, or damage a sidewall. These drop offs on the side of the campground roads, could be easily fixed, and I encourage, the park staff to do so.
Check in is up the 9 degree hill, and at the top there is no designated RV parking spots, and you have to make an 180 turn to exit check-in area, then go back down the 9 degree hill, to the campground.
If you have a camper 25 feet or smaller, then this state park if they would fix the roads would be great,
Great location, relaxing among the century old Oaks and long leaf pines, and just 2 miles away is Callaway Gardens.

Just beautiful, site 117 is a back in close to the lake. We did go and enjoy the hiking trail that goes around the campground, spent the day at Callaway Gardens and that evening saw the Christmas lights. One nights dinner was at Hunters Pub...a must do for those meat eaters. We booked for next year but did not get our past site 117 but did luck out with a FHU site.

I enjoyed staying at this campground. Sites 308 and 309 are buddy sites, but not listed as such so that was a slight surprise. The road in is a little tight and steep, but very doable. If you have any bit of a size of rig I would recommend checking in over the phone and going right to your campsite. Go back to the office if you need to pick stuff up such as your site card. I have a 40' diesel pusher with a 4 door sedan in tow, and even though there weren't many cars at the office (it was closed due to Covid) those cars were parked in spots that made it so i couldn't get out (during normal times I am sure there are even more cars). To make the turn to the out road I had to unhook my car, maneuver the RV, then hook the car back up (I was solo this weekend, if you have someone to drive the toad then it is no problem). The road is a little on the tight side once you get into the campgrounds but was doable, even with my car hooked up. Site 309 was easy to back-in, probably the most level site I have ever had! I didn't need to put any of the tires up on a board, and after dumping the air and putting the jacks down, all i had to do was put them on the ground, i never had any lights come up to tweak the leveling.I love the campground, all of the hiking, the quietness. They were redoing some sections when i was there, but only worked until 4pm on Friday and no work over the weekend. I think I irritated one of the construction guys because he was coming down the road behind me when I got to my site, he had to wait for me to unhook my car and then back in, oh well. I did have some cell signal when I arrived, and that is what my coverage is listed as below, as far as during the entire time, I am not sure because my phone got turned off. If cell service is a main concern, maybe camping isn't your thing......
