Nice place to overnight on way to hill country. We use it to cut our drive time in half. There's a dollar general just a little bit to the north you can swing in with a toad. I don't think truckers use this rest area. Perfect for rv'ers

We camped here in our van. Some road noise from 281, but not terrible. Narrow if two large vehicles need to pass. About 100 yard long side parking area. No facilities.

This is properly called the D S Warren Picnic Area. It can be remarkably quite at night because traffic on 281 is nearly nonexistent. Much traffic noise in the day. Several things you should be aware of: 1. No facilities. No water. Not a problem for self-contained RVs, but could be for some car campers, etc. 2. It’s just... more

2. It’s just marginally wide enough for a Class A to pass a carefully parked Class A. If it’s not carefully parked, forget it. Not a problem for car campers.
3. Leaving the site

3. Leaving the site, good visibility to the North (left) but poor to the South (right.) In a Class A I would only suggest a right turn. And that wasn’t the way I was going to go.
I like the place and will probably use it again. It’s just better to be informed.

“A roadside picnic area where you can stay overnight”

Just a few miles south of Evant, TX this roadside picnic area has covered tables and nice shade trees. Access is a little steep, so big trucks are rare. No restrooms, so you’ll have to dry camp, but no more than 24 hrs allowed. Traffic noise is above average - 281 is a busy highway, but quiet after sunset.
