Free!! Great spot right off 50. There looked like there was plenty of spots. We took our 32 foot class a down the first pull off to the right & went pretty far back. No trash services or bathrooms or any kind.

Easy to get to, nice site. Right next to the road but no road noise at all after dark. Only downside was cell reception at 1 bar T-mobile but we were here to get away from that so it was all good!

We came in June 10th and it was when a heat wave hit the area. So, too hot (over 100) and high winds motivated us to move on the following day. Delta (closest town) about 13 miles away and super quiet as our site (not level) was about 1.5 miles off the main road. We would try this again if the opportunity provides it to us.

As far as RV camping goes there really aren't a lot of spots to choose from. There's a decent sized open area near the coordinates you can fit a couple of large RV's in and there are a few large pull-offs along the road to the right you can camp on but there really aren't many actual campsites. As far as RV camping goes there really aren't a lot of spots to choose from.
There's a decent sized open area near the coordinates you can fit a couple of large RV's in and there are a few large pull-offs along the road to the right you can camp on but there really aren't many actual campsites.
The road to the right does eventually lead to some really cool small campsites but these are mostly for vans and vehicles with good clearance.
Some of the roads have been closed off to motor vehicle traffic so be careful where you drive.
We found a small campsite just past the coordinates. It was perfect for our 24 foot RV and you could probably fit a small trailer if you back into it.
The noise wasn't bad during the day and it was quiet at night.

Once the dirt bike traffic, Which wasn’t heavy to begin with, ended around or after dark it was super quiet, dark and very peaceful. Loved it!!!

Area is right off of highway 50 so very convenient. we got in a little late and chose to park in the far corner of the gravel lot at the entrance of the road. Area is right off of highway 50 so very convenient. we got in a little late and chose to park in the far corner of the gravel lot at the entrance of the road. Perfectly level and pretty clean as well. Further up the road there are more scenic areas to camp and after a couple of miles you will reach the Gunnison river. Lot never got crowded, but people came through occasionally to park and drive OHVs up the road. Nothing special about this place but very convenient and would for sure stop here again on my way through.

Leisurely drive allowing for photo ops of fall colors in the San Juans between Silverton and Ouray. That and the pre-requisite Dallas Divide classic images. Restocked at Walmart in Montrose CO and, based on Campendium info, emptied tanks and filled our water tanks at the Montrose County Fairgrounds and Event Center in preparation for two nights with no access to RV utilities.
This was the first time that I took advantage of Compendium’s travel directions using Google Maps. In fact, it was so accurate that we overnighted within a few yards of the programmed destination. Great option!

The road is in good shape, but turn arounds are far a part. But down by the river even big rigs can turn around. Road has a little “traffic” as it goes to a few houses in the canyon. Definitely enjoyed our first BLM camping!
Down in the canyon ATT was spotty at best and Verizon was a little better.
