Made reservation 5/12/23 for 6/17 thru 6/19/23. Agreed to their policy when making reservation.
Policy as posted on website is:
Reservation Deposit & Cancellation Policy
Upon making your reservation, we collect 20% of your reservation total as NON-REFUNDABLE
deposit. You may cancel up until 14 days prior to your arrival and have no other financial obligation.
After the 14-day window opens, we will collect your entire amount and there are no refunds,
regardless of the reason.
Fair enough. Agreed to.
Our CCard was charged full amount of $233.23 on 5/15/23.NOT 20% as stated in policy.
Several days later, got diagnoses from Dr that wife has breast cancer.
Cancelled reservation (and entire trip).
This is NOT Escalantes Cabin's problem, not expecting them to assume it is their problem. Just want them to honor their policy. As stated on their website.
After cancellation, I was informed by manager of Escalante Cabins that the facility was sold to a new owner on sometime around 5/22/23 so it would be up to the new owner to offer refund OR a six-month rain check to stay later this year. I asked that the standard policy for a refund be honored is to charge only 20%, not 100%. No response.
As of today, 6/2/23, we have not received any contact or refund for any part of the $233.23 charge.
All that to simply say, stay here if you enjoy supporting rip off artists.

We stayed here to explore and hike areas around and near Escalante. Our site was tight but we managed. Views from our site were of the back of residential area so not thrilling. They have planted trees and shrubs so once those mature, it will give more privacy and look really nice. Big RV park with large pull throughs for big rigs. Tent camping available. Kind of a mix of everything. It is very open to the road and close, so it doesn’t feel tucked away or anything. Laundry room was clean, expensive compared to other RV parks. We did not use the showers or restrooms. Front office offers ice, propane, books/souvenirs. Very friendly. Easy access right off Hwy 12. Basically across the street from the visitor center. Near Petrified Forest. Restaurants nearby however, check hours because it seems to be inconsistent on some. Pack in all your groceries and supplies because this area is very remote with very little choices and high prices. Exploring and hiking is the reason to be here just make sure to have what you need before arriving.

The sites themselves are just OK, arranged in standard RV park fashion without much distance between neighbors, no shade, and a little grass.

No AT&T in the area, but very close to a Verizon tower (you can see it from the campground) and Verizon was strong enough for full time remote work, video conferencing, and streaming. The main perk of this park, in my opinion, is the location- it’s right across the street from the Grand Staircase visitor center, which is super convenient for grabbing brochures and finding things to do in the area. The laundry room was clean and machines worked well. We were able to receive packages in the front office and the staff was nice. We would stay again if going to the area.

Road noise is loud and kids screaming outside. Very helpful and kind staff. Laundry room is clean, has 5 washers (1 not working) $3.50-$4 and 5 dryers (1 not working) $2. One overflowing dumpster but there was another that had a little room still which is great because we have been boondocking for over a week. 20 amp GFI kept tripping with only our Pioneer mini split plugged in using less than 500w but staff brought us a 30amp to 15 amp plug so we could have heat overnight! They let us check in early due to winter storm coming in which we are grateful for. Not the most level spot but doable with our hydraulic levels.

For me, this campground was just ok. The spaces are long enough for most rigs. But the selling point for me, was all the hiking in the area. Laundry was expensive, $3.50 for a washer but it may be due to limited facilities in town and water prices. Showers were private and clean.

Next day we moved to full hookup site but got stuck in the soft sand in front of the site. An employee went to get the owner who said he wasn’t going to help dig us out. We shamed him into it and we did get unstuck and into the site. No “sorry“ for not maintaining the campground roads.

It’s a great launching point for exploring the Grand Staircase and close enough to to town to walk to a few restaurants. We stay here 2-3x per year.

Great location to discover Escalante. We love it here. The people are UNBELIEVABLY friendly. Arrival was so nice, contactless check in is great. We were early, not a problem at all. Sites are wide. When the trees grow the shade will be lovely.
