BIG mistake. We are lucky we didn’t have major damage.

Both of these 2 dispersed campgrounds are tough. Rough roads, and really only set up for tents. Unless you are completely out of options, skip it and find a better spot. There are many better places for Boondocking around Prescott, try areas off Senator Hwy or past Lower Wolf Creek campground. Unless you are completely out of options, skip it and find a better spot. There are many better places for Boondocking around Prescott, try areas off Senator Hwy or past Lower Wolf Creek campground. Had high hopes for this spot, was looking forward to a quick getaway to the Prescott area and the paid campsites near Lynx Lake have been booked up for past several weeks, so, why not try the dispersed area? Not so fast, Tiger..... The road is rutted and a bit rough, I have a Ford Escape and was a bit much but made it through fine going really slow. On a Friday night around 7PM all but one spot was taken...I soon found out why. I stayed in spot number 10. Spacious and somewhat flat, a nice fire ring was built in the middle - that's where the positives ended. So much garbage everywhere, someone had left empty pool chemical containers, car parts, beer cans and various other garbage. I spent an hour cleaning out the fire pit and packed up two garbage bags. Clearly this is a spot local kids come out to and drink and party. Is a shame no one has respect for the place. I stayed the night and promptly packed up at first light, headed over to Lower Wolf Creek where had a very nice stay.

I took my family here for their fist time camping. We had a 2 wheel drive chevy Silverado and a 10’ pop-up tent trailer that had been highly modified for dry camping in remote areas. The road in is a little rough at first, but nothing that wasn’t handled by cars. It simply slowed down traffic which was nice. The sites seem to be heavily used, but generally clean except for a few items my kids were happy to point out and clean up. Overall was a great experience. We even saw a small heard of about 10 deer only 100 yards up a very easy trail behind the campsite.
Kinion Fam would stay here again
