We stopped for one night and got a pull through so we wouldn’t have to unhook. Just what we wanted. Lovely rustic campground thick with redwoods. Sites are varied from close to a nice distance apart. Located a short distance off of 101 with gas and cheaper propane nearby. Space heaters prohibited. Not sure why.

It is dirt/gravel.The camp is in the redwood forest so there are beautiful trees everywhere (somewhat of a hazard for pulling in). It would be too dense for solar. Spacing is good because the trees keep some separation. It is near a highway but the trees block out most of the noise so I didn’t find it a problem. Antenna reception was non-existent and there is no cable. WiFi was good and AT&T had 3 bars 5G. Every site had a picnic table and a fire ring/grill. Bathrooms are clean. The main nearby attractions are the Redwood Forest.

However, this meant there was quite a bit of noise from the highway. The bathrooms were clean and the WiFi worked well, though we did not try to download or stream using the WiFi. We were in site 94 with a 32 foot rig and the way it is positioned, it was difficult to back into. It was also sloped in such a way that it was useless for us to hook up to the sewer because no matter how you set it up, it was impossible to actually get the contents to do anything except sit in the hose. The sites are very close together and many of them were muddy even though it did not rain during our visit.

A couple items to be aware of:
If you want to make sure you get a site among them trees, you must call them to make the reservation and request it. Many of the tree sites are also taken up by long term campers so plan ahead.
Our first site was so slanted our leveling system couldn’t work but they were very accommodating about moving us to another site. If level is important to you, you may want to request that as well. If some road noise bothers you, avoid the sites in the very back of the park. They back up against the highway.
The laundry room is tiny - two washers, two dryers - so plan ahead as they may be occupied. It is open 24 hours though.

If you would like to camp under redwood trees this is a great base for exploring the state and national parks of the redwood coast. It is very shady. We would have appreciated some sun the cool week we stayed here. Site was FHU 30 amp, mostly level and easy enough to get into. The problem was that sites and roads are dirt and pine needles so it was muddy after any rain. Bring your outdoor mat if you have one. Laundry had 2W and 2D and half were out of order. This park would be great for kids as there are so many nooks and crannies to explore. Small grocery in Trinidad with great selection and high er prices. WiFi worked great for streaming.

Beautifully kept park! It felt like we were a million miles from civilization yet we had all of the modern conveniences. Cell service was excellent, bathrooms were gorgeous and clean, laundry facilities top notch ($2 per load/dry). Would definitely stay here again!

We'd stayed in Patrick Point State Park before and weren't fans, so decided to try Emerald Forest. Even getting into the park to the office was a challenge as the steep drive was full of large potholes. It was very muddy, due to recent rains. Gravel gravel could have mitigated that—there was none on the roads or the sites. It's very crowded, with small, closely packed sites. The forest it's jammed into is dense, so it's very dark. There are two bathrooms: one single and one with men's and women's sides, three sinks/toilets/showers each, but one of the women's showers was not working. The bathrooms were clean and the shower good. I'd give "cleaniless" four stars if it weren't so muddy—and I'm sure dusty in the non-rainy season. The park is right next to 101, though the trees muffle some of the noise.

We were lucky enough to get a spot on the Patrick’s Point Rd side of the campground where the noise from the 101 was barely noticeable, if at all.
The campground itself is pretty beautiful, set among the redwoods. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cell signal was enough to work off of but was occasionally weak.

Two of us were put in the back where there were lots of hwy noise. Semi trucks on hwy 101 were very loud. The sites are close together and neighbors are right there. When booking you don’t get to select your sites, they just assign one and not tell you.
WiFi was not that great/reliable. Cell service was available but spotty and slow.
Trash cans were overfilling and a mess.
