We were the only people staying there! Rate was $20 for our RV/trailer, pay via cash in an envelope at the kiosk. Slept great, saw geese crossing the frozen lake! Dump station open with water at the main.
Only electric at the site, 30/50 amp electric provided. Water spicier at the site turned off!

What a great place for the rate. Met really nice people. Seem to be locals staying here. Fished and walked. A60 had a million flys. Had to move because someone else reserved the site. The second site did not have as many flys. Lot's of mosquitos they didn't bite. I know weird.

What a nice option this town provides. We spend 3 nights. The east gravel spots are 30a and the west of the bathhouse are 30a/50a, all with water. Several shaded sites have low branches for our 13’4” 5th wheel. Nice town to walk around. We would stay again. Get a pizza from Arthur’s!! Att and Verizon worked fine for Streaming. Our T-Mobile hotspot was stuck on roaming so it was worthless. Only down side was fire ring was full of trash. We cleaned it but I bet it returns. Who puts trash in the fire ring when the trash can is 30ft away.

The sites were level and some paved. Nice little fishing dock along river, and nice shade trees. We only stayed overnight anc it was perfect. We could have stayed longer. Will definitely stay again
It was quiet except for occasional train.

Not much to see in town (Walter Chrysler’s childhood home), this was just a stopover for me but I loved the ambience and town. Note: this is a self checkin site. Instructions and forms are in front of the bathrooms.

Both times I've stayed I arrived after dark and was only passing through, so I opted not to set up the tent and instead slept in my crossover, which is set up to sleep in with a Luno air mattress. The area was well lit at night, and I felt very safe.
The campground: It was small, mostly quiet, flat, and had a decent amount of shade. The area I stayed in had pull through spots that faced the water (a reservoir, I believe). There's a small dock on the water. My site included a picnic table, grill, and water spigot. I'm not sure about electric hookups and dump stations, since I have no need for those things. The bathrooms were clean, and had both toilets and showers.
Booking: The campground does not take reservations, which I think is great, as it allows me to be a little more spontaneous. There's a self-pay station in front of the bathrooms near the entrance to the campground. I stayed here on a Monday night in late October, and had no problem getting a site. The cost depends on if you're there in the off-season or not, but I believe the most expensive fee is $25 for RVs.
The area: Ellis is a small town. If you're arriving later in the evening I would recommend stopping to eat somewhere prior to arriving in Ellis. In the morning, I made a quick detour down the main street and saw a café, a pizza place, and a Mexican restaurant. There's also a railroad museum. The campground is pretty close to the highway; right off the highway are a couple gas stations with fast food places inside.
Cell Service: I have Verizon, and my service was good enough to stream a live hockey game. The campground said it had WIFI, but I didn't try it out.

The City of Ellis is itself charming and well worth a visit. The campground reflects the justified pride folk in their town, and we are so glad we found this little gem. Highly recommend!
