Elkader City Park

Elkader City Park consists of mowed grass and mature trees. It is alongside a busy highway so expect some truck noise. Unlike many campgrounds, this one does not have specific sites laid out. There are power pedestals and water spigots scattered throughout and you just pull up and park on the grass near one. This can be very confusing. Commonly you will need to share a power pedestal which has two 20-amp outlets, one 30-amp, and one 50-amp. So come prepared with a dogbone. The campground does have many seasonal campers in it. These individuals commonly show up on the weekend but are gone during the week. So it is very quiet during the week even though the campground may be 75% full. While the campground was not full while we were there, I would recommend getting here early for a weekend because of all of the seasonal units. One thing to note is that there is no potable water at the dump station. So fill up before dumping.
