Does anyone know how level site 111 is in D Loop? I've read some reviews that D Loop has some very un-level sites. ...

Got a last minute spot after we couldn’t get a spot in Ouray. Very nice park. The sites were large with a picnic table and fire pit area in the trees. Although your neighbor isn’t far, it felt more private than other campgrounds because of the trees. Hikes were nice. Bathrooms were clean although the showers were hit or miss with water saving low pressure. The laundry worked and was clean and reasonably priced. Requires day pass even with a reservation. Drove thru the other campgrounds in the park and would choose this one again due to the shady sites.

We camped in Elk Ridge which is part of Ridgeway State Park. Elk Ridge is by far the best camping area in spite of the fact that it only has only electricity with water faucets dispersed throughout the campground. This means that you need to use your fresh water holding tank and pump. The sites are spaced very well with cedar trees between sites. The other two camping areas in the park, one of which is full hook ups, do not have the views and they are much closer to the highway which means you get quite a bit of road noise. We would definitely camp here again and will probably do so within the next couple of years.

With a combination of mountain views, large, wooded sites, patios, good cell reception, great bathrooms and Lau dry facilities, this campground is one of the best state park campgrounds you can find.

This was our first time at Ridgway SP. I liked Elk Ridge being up the hill with great views of the mountains and reservoir. Sites have electric, accessible table and fire ring. No water at site, but lots of spigots around park, so fill up before setting up. Sites had some small trees between them. It was nice to have a clean shower nearby with a five minute timer that was plenty. There is a cell tower in the campground, ATT service was great. The small town of Ridgway is close to get what you need, folks were friendly. Ouray was only 20 minutes and is a great tourist town with bars & restaurants. The perimeter trail is a moderate tough hike, not easy. It took us 45 min to an hour to get to Telluride, another tourist town. The gondola ride is gorgeous and free in the summer. So a ride up and hike or mountain bike down.

We stayed here one night and really enjoyed it. You are checked in at the front gate by the park staff.
Our site was a drive thru on the top of the ridge so it has some nice views. The sites are spaced nicely, so not to close to others. Electric at the sited and water close by. Restrooms were clean and well maintained. In addition to the $36 you are required to purchase a $9 daily fee pass, unless you have a Colorado annual pass. The campground is adjacent the Ridgway reservoir which is a very nice large lake. Unlike some other reservoirs in CO that have very low water levels, Ridgeway was pretty good. The day pass permitted to go hang out at the beach which was nice. Our site was a handicap accessible one, although we did not requires this. It actually was rather nice in that it had a flat cement pad for the picnic table and fire pit. A bit more expensive than forest service sites but better maintained and more services.

Very scenic with the most shade of any loop in the park.
BUT, drive in is narrow and the pull through spots have a short and tight turn in the loop. We were 37ft 5th wheel and we spent 45 minutes trying to get in a good spot. We all love shade but the drive in as well as many of the sites have overhanging/encroaching trees that need trimmed. This issue makes a tight pull through even smaller. Lastly, be equipped and ready to test your leveling skills. Many sites are sloping left to right and or front to back. The picture is not my class c but a neighbor. I rest my case. Nice spots to kayak with great views. We would stay here again but I would try a different loop. Att and Verizon would make phone calls but data was intermittent. T mobile hotspot had no service.

Ridgeway State Park was our basecamp for Ouray, Telluride and Silverton and could have been for several other activities that we just didn't have time for. The roads in the campground were a little tight, but easy enough to manuever. There were water spigots all over, but we filled up at the dump station which was at the entrance to the campground. The showerhouse was clean and well maintained though the water pressure was a little lacking.
We enjoyed our time here and would have no problems staying here again.

This state park campground is clean, well spaced, and surrounded by pinyon trees, hiking and biking trails and great views of Mt. Sneffels in the San Juan Mountains. There are large dedicated tent sites (pebbles or wood) plus others that are included in the RV sites. You can book sites marked as HA or handicapped accessible, even if you are not handicapped. Some sites are pull through for those who haul heavy metal. The camp center building has a laundry and vending machine, plus low-flow hot showers. Only 30 amp electric is included here, so make sure you have the correct plug. Ridgway is a nice small town a few miles south with all needs met, including a resale shop with most anything you might need. Seniors with Aspen Leaf Annual Pass pay $3 less per night.
