“Being brought back into service after a dormant period, still needs work”

This campground was closed for some time and is just now being rehabbed and reopened, and it's still a little rough around the edges. The new name is San Juan Riverbend RV Park, but there is no signage along Hwy 160 at all and the entrance is a little difficult to spot, especially coming from the northeast toward Pagosa. Use GPS and look out for a black metal arch. We were here with a group (Habitat Care-a-Vanners) and paid a discounted group rate; the normal rate seems to be $40/night.

Pros: Full hookups, close to the San Juan River on a bluff with river access from the campground, laundry facilities with large washers, trees and grass provide nice ambiance, not too far from groceries and gas, and owners seem to be working to improve the facilities (picnic tables appeared at sites at some point during our stay)

Cons: DO NOT DRINK THE WATER (buy bottled; your gut will thank you), no bathhouse/showers, laundry facility is only two washers and two dryers inside a garage, park charges a flat rate per week for laundry regardless of usage, lots of trees with low branches hanging into RV spots, rocks and other obstructions make it hard to maneuver larger vehicles through the RV park, the entrance arch is not wide enough to accommodate two cars passing each other (I have no idea how two rigs could go through at the same time), and the location next to Hwy 160 means there is quite a bit of traffic noise during the day.
