Overall Rating
This was my third visit to the Savage River State Forest and it is always magical if your goal is to get away from everything. Many of the campsites here are 300+ feet away from one another, though located along the paved forest road. The sites are first-come first-served so to get a prime waterfront site you may want to show up on a Thursday, or even a Wednesday. Each campsite has a picnic table and a rock fire pit. Otherwise there are no services, including cell service. If you need cell service either drive up to the interstate or there is a bit of reception just downstream of the dam. Firewood can be purchased at the Savage River Store.
