Elk Creek Campground

The “established” campgrounds in this area are very nice and clean. The small town of Elk River is a very friendly community and travelers are welcome here. The best thing for me though is the free remote “boondocking” just out of town on the way up to the “Giant Cedar Grove Trailhead” along Elk Creek Road. I have a 32’ travel trailer that I pulled up here with no problem. Sadly, locals park their RV’s in campsites here and apparently leave them throughout the summer so it can be hard to find available “free” sites, but there are usually several available between town and the ancient cedar grove. You talk about an amazing place! If you want to see some ancient Cedar groves, and I mean some with enormous trees, HUGE trees, this area is the place to be!! Just do a Google search on “Giant Cedar Grove Trailhead, Elk River, ID” and read all about this wonderful and remote area for more information.
