This has been one of our favorite campgrounds around the country that we have stayed in. The sites are spacious and well maintained. We can’t wait to come back.

We like the feel of the park and area. But it seems it could use some TLC. Rates are high and if park busy it could be tight.

Mild road noise in the front of the meadows, didn't bother us. Bathrooms and laundry were good and functional.
AT&T cell service was 0 in the woods section and 2 bars of 4G up front in the meadow. We moved from the forest to the meadow to get cell signal. With 2 bars, we could boost to get streaming. No HDTV channels. If you need cell service get a meadow site away from the trees.
Pros: Location, wildlife, small to medium sized redwoods all around.
Cons: Mild road noise,

Close to the Highway, but quiet at night. Large herd of elk wandered through our camp. Great stay!

Fairly spacious campsites. Did actually have elk around our campsites early in the morning during one day. When I first pulled in and backed in I was not able to get close enough to the sewer hook up because of overhead branches and trees that were already scraping the roof. I spoke to the office staff they told me it was because they received a lot of rain in the last few days and there was nothing for them to do. The day before leaving I had to pull the trailer out and angle it so my two long sections of septic hose would reach the connection so I could drain my tanks and soon after starting this someone from the office came out and complained that I was driving on part of their grass and leaving some indentations because of the rain. I described the prior conversation and that this was for hook up and I needed to drain my tanks and this was the only way I could do it. They were a bit cross about the whole situation. Find it quite ironic that because of the rain I couldnt hook up but also I was being chastised for moving my trailer so I could make a connection even temporary because I was leaving some indentations in the lawn because of the rain. Of course the second person I talk to you suggested giving me a different campsite but I was leaving the next morning at 6 AM. A bit irritated about paying for a full hook up site and not being able to use it appropriately. All they had to do is cut 1 branch or move me to a different site. Many without trees. A number of open sites.

This is a nice campground with both forested and open meadow campsites. An elk herd has made the open meadow their home base. Our check-in was relatively slow. Trash was collected regularly and the restrooms were clean. We were assigned site 19 which is directly at the base of a small pond dam. They should not rent this campsite out at all because the dam is leaking and we slogged through a muddy mess the entire time as well as wondering if we were going to be washed away in the night. It was impossibly out of level, both front to back and side to side. There were vacant sites to be assigned. The last time we were here our assigned space was dry and good.

Closest town is Orick with a small grocery store so come prepared with supplies on board.
Site had W/E connections. No sewer or dump station (we dumped at our next campground).
Shower house needs updating - only two toilets in the women's side and one was out of order for the entire week we were there. Shower required a quarter for 3 mins. We did not use. Laundry room was in good operation for a couple of loads. Cell coverage was not adequate for work computer which is the main reason we would not stay here. If you do not need a consistent cell connection this is worth a one time visit.

I travelled to Elk Country in a 35’ 5th wheel. My site was #507, a FHU, back in site. 30A electric service. This site was in the meadow section and backed up to the trees so I had morning shade. The Forest section is heavily shaded and is a mix of permanent rigs and tourists. The wifi was bad, weak Verizon signal and no OTA channels. The entry road in is asphalt, interior roads are gravel and the sites were a combo of grass and gravel. It was very easy to navigate. The site had a picnic table and fire ring. Hookups were at the back of the site which could be a problem for some rigs. Sites are fairly close and it was easy to hear my neighbors chatting when they were sitting outside of their rig. Site 509 had a bit more space and more shade (temps were very moderate so that may not be a requirement.) Laundry was $3.75 and dryers were $0.25 for 6 minutes. Bathrooms were clean, bare concrete style. As the name suggests, elk do hang out in the campground. One mama elk had an injured leg and was hiding in the bushes behind my rig with her baby. They both came out in the mornings and it was pretty cool to watch them. I enjoyed my stay here and would come back if I was going to visit Redwoods NP again.
If you drive up the road to the beach, you can get a signal strong enough to do email.

“Disappointed ”
noted 8/3/2021
Initially we were happy with the trailer we rented at this campground. But after we got home I received an email saying that we broke a vent cover and poorly tried to repair it with tape. My son had noticed that it was broke but unfortunately did not bring it to my attention so that I could report it ASAP. Now I am being charged to replace something that we did not break. We had planned to go back but no longer will. DO NOT rent ANYTHING from them or you may be charged to fix
Something you didn’t break.
