“Beautiful Park”

We arrived late in the evening and drove thru the park and scored the last site which in my opinion was the best site. The park was full of huge old pine trees. Our site had concrete with a beautiful raised, fire pit and picnic table. The camp hosts were friendly, helpful, and eager to help with any needs. Site pads were on the small side side. Ours is 19' and it sat nicely.

“A short drive to Red River”

This park is great, lots of trees, spaces big. DRY camping only, this is The Carson national forest. You can drive into Red River and pay at a public campground to dump. We loved the site, there are frequent water spigots and clean pit toilets. Very convenient to Red River, we stayed several days and used this as our headquarters for sightseeing and fishing the area. Our main complaint was the road noise, we were well away from the road, but it is a canyon, so that road noise echos. Also, the camp hosts were worthless, they let people park however they wanted. Made the park look trashy and overcrowded adjacent sites. If you don't plan on sightseeing not staying at the campground it was great. We enjoyed Red River...once....LOL. Too many people. Hiking in this part of the Carson Forest was terrible. No trailheads accessible from campgrounds. And, this area is full of old mining trails and ATVs are allowed on the roads in Red River and all mining trails. While we enjoyed stay, we won't be back as we prefer more quiet. After a week, we headed in the Wilderness areas.
