Ela Campground

We chose this campground to stay on our trip to Bryson City. My family and I were taking out kids to ride the Polar Express train from there. It was an awesome area to see wildlife (in Cherokee we saw elk) and explore the neat town of Bryson City. The pictures online of the campground made this place look amazing. Checkin in for us was taped to the door; the office was not open. When we arrived there had been a lot of rain. The entire campground was mud. There was one other camper there which made us think something was up (I have never been to a campground and literally saw NO ONE).The other camper left after the first day we were there. The hookups were at the very rear of the camper and the water turned my water filter and pressure regulator into a rust bucket. Since the hookups were far away, my cable would not reach to the cable hookup (I blame myself for not having a long enough cable). It was listed that they had WIFI at the CG but we were never given a passcode to use it. The deck of the river was the main selling point. It was pretty to look at and cook from, but there were some boards in need of attention that could've ended in disaster if we weren't paying attention. Lastly, most of the campground had campers that were "built in" either to rent and also lived in full time. These were somewhat old and not taken good care of. Given the choice, I would not stay here again.
