We found lots of back country trails

We stayed for 2 nights as the campgrounds inside the park were full for this long weekend, this campground has very limited services, it has over a hundred sites but only about 40 open, only one bathroom and 2 of the 3 toilets out of use, no shower although it charges the same as the others campgrounds which has showers. This is dry campground, no hookups for RV, only one site with hookup near the bathroom, I guess that is camp host’s. Very windy for both days.

The government is doing a poor job of maintaining the campground. In the men's room both urinals and a sink were out of order. The road in is paved. Most sites are shallow and best for campers less than 25 feet.
I suggest saving $20 and camping at Poverty Flats 15 miles north.
Only 1 bar of Verizon service.

Went and looked in June when it was 40C (104F). No breeze, site empty and no view of the lake. So glad we went to Stewart Point afterwards with cooling wind and lake views.
There is a dump site there though:)

Easy to access to the left before you get into the campground. It was clean, had non-potable water for hose washing and a duel spigot fresh water away from the dump.

We had one other camper in the upper campground the first night we were here and the second we were on our own. Loved that! The park host said the park gets busier in the winter with snowbirds. Sites are gravel and pretty level, but in the first loop they weren't very big. There is army least one other loop, but that wasn't open. There are tables and fire pits. We had a lot of Oleander, palm trees and eucalyptus around our site. We backed up to the bathroom, which I wouldn't recommend as the lights inside are fluorescent and quite bright at night. Also there was water running continuously somewhere in the building that could be heard outside our camper Cell service might vary by site. Our site had 3 bars ATT E, but up higher on the rise and next to the bathroom we had 4G. (Why is cell service frequently better near the bathrooms??). Speaking of bathrooms, these were old and tired and not the cleanest, but definitely useable. The lower campground seemed tighter and a bit overgrown when we drove through.
