So many things to see and do in the area too. water available and easy to fill tanks. no dump, so just be aware. We absolutely loved this place. Our Verizon coverage was "extended" and minimal-enough to text and voice.
Make sure to drive the Enchanted Circle thru Red River, Eagle's Nest, Angel Fire and Taos. Also, don't miss the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Angle Fire.

This was one of the most picturesque and beautiful campgrounds I have been to in quite some time. This state park campground sits right on Eagle Nest Lake. The camp sites are spacious (like most state parks), with about half being half-moon pull-thrus and half being back-ins. The surface is gravel. Each space is level and has it’s own covered picnic table as well. There is a bathroom in the middle, as well as at least two potable water fill stations. There are no hook-ups at this campground. It is only $10/night. There is fishing in the lake, and a boat ramp as well. When we were there (April 2021) it was windy and cold, and there was still snow on the mountaintops and ski runs. Most of the shops in the two nearby towns were closed (Eagle Nest and Angel Fire) but this place is definitely worth it if the weather is right. When we were there, it was cold and windy most of the time, but still gorgeous.
We had great cell service (AT&T) but our travel partners have Verizon and had only basic service). We stayed in a 35’ fifth wheel.

This is an outstanding campground for fishing, boating, birdwatching, or just enjoying great scenery. We absolutely loved our enormous waterfront site in this state park; it's hard to believe that views like these can be enjoyed for a mere $10 per night. Sure, it's dry camping, but we have dry camped plenty of places that were far less scenic. Sites were well separated and equipped with sturdy picnic tables and shade shelters.
The campground sits right above a large lake with panoramic views of the mountains that surround the valley. This is a great spot for bird watching because there are water birds on the lake (white pelicans, blue herons, ospreys) and a wide variety of songbirds living in the shrubs on the lake shores. It's also an outstanding location for fishing, and the lake is stocked with a variety of gamefish. We appreciated that the campground is located beyond the boat ramp so we never had any noise or traffic from boaters in the campground. There are two hiking trails the run north and south from the visitor center and the campground running along the lakeshore, and they can easily be accessed on foot from the campground. The trails are not challenging (very flat) but are scenic. The spot was definitely windy at times. We enjoyed seeing a few colorful sunsets during our stay.
The only downsides are that the park is not particularly close to Taos. Even though the distance is only 30 miles, the windy road through Taos Canyon takes close to an hour to navigate. The town of Eagle Nest has little to offer in the way of services, but there is a Shell gas station and a few restaurants/bars. Come prepared with groceries, in other words.
Cell service on AT&T was completely acceptable. Speeds on AT&T: Download 57.7 Mbps Upload 5.98 Mbps.

The little town of Eagle Nest has some great spots to eat. TONS of fishing supplies and small stores. If you are a fisherman/woman this is a great place to stay a while. No Hiking or trails and this park does set right outside of town. While the drive into the park is through town, once you get to the park you see nothing but lake. Since, from here you head into mountains, this is a great rest stop.

The views from the campground are lovely. We were there late October 2018 when the leaves were still turning, there was snow topped mountain peaks and the lake was blue and full of fish!
There were only a total of 3 campers the whole weekend because it is late season.
We had 3 bars of 3G (Verizon) in the campground which was enough for calls, texts and some online searching. The fishing at the lake was great- you could launch a boat or fish from the shore. Also within a very short drive you can fish many streams.
We enjoyed a beautiful, quiet and inexpensive stay! We will come again.

Eagle Nest Lake and the 360-degree surounding mountains are stunning. Especially nice in late Sept/early Oct when the Aspen leaves are turning yellow.
It is dry camping with no services, however, the loop through or back in sites are very well kept. The covered table is a nice addition. We were able to park our 45' coach in one of the loop-through sites and have an unrestricted view of the lake. The site is well managed and maintained. It's one of the most beautiful views we have had at a campground.
There is no booking, so we arrived mid-day on a Thursday to make sure we were not caught in a weekend rush. There were about 1/3rd of the sites open when we arrived and it didn't really reach 100% capacity. We stayed 3 nights.
We followed this with 7 nights just 10 miles down the road at the Angel Fire RV Resort. It's a full-hookup wonderful campground (but with a well-justified $70 price tag). It was a compromise to better average out our cost. But this was not a compromise on quality, just hookups.

Big flat expanse of beautiful scenery and a beautiful blue lake. It is pretty windy here but not sure if that is the case all the time. Camp is gravel with a pad with a picnic table and cover with a fire pit that we could not use. No services but just a nice place to stop for a day.

High elevation mountain lake with gorgeous views in every direction. Immaculate facilities and great sites for vans, RV's or caravans. We enjoyed mild winter conditions, but bet this place is a Godsend during the hot Southwest summers.

Sites are gravel packed, include a shade structure, picnic table. Sites were mostly level and really long. We had over 45’ left after we parked our 30’ trailer and truck.
The skies were amazing and the lake was inviting. Unfortunately, a cold snap and wids kept us off of the lake.
Park ranger came through several times a days. Even though they were only pit toilets, the ranger cleaned them every day.
There are some hiking trails and all kinds of wild life around this park.
Bring your solar or generator and enjoy a beautiful park.
