“Sandy access ”
Reviewed 10/16/2023
Didn't get past the entrance road in my sedan/low clearance since it was very sandy and seemed like deep sand.
Agree that it seems sketchy...

I sleep in the back of my Jeep during my Roadtrip and I got sketched out. It's either a spot to go use drugs or for guys to meet and hook up. Guys would just pull up and then another guy would and the guy would go sit in his car for twenty mins and go back to his car. Then at 7am, I'm alone in this lot, a pick up pulls in and drives around the lot and pulls up 10 feet behind my Jeep and just sits there staring at my Jeep. I'm a big ass dude and even I was like I need to get out of here. So I climbed over my front seats and just peeled out. Def the sketchiest place I've ever stayed.

We were looking for an overnight spot to break up a long drive and ended up here because there weren’t many other options and it seemed better than Walmart. Easy to get to, but not much to look at. It’s an atv park and the “camping” is just a sandy parking area. There’s one picnic table and grill but the place is totally trashed, litter and graffiti all over. We arrived around 5pm on a Sunday and there was no one there, but one car did pull in shortly after us for about an hour to hang out? It’s close enough to the road that you can hear cars but it wasn’t terribly loud, not even close to the worst I’ve experienced. Our “site” was level. We had good Tmobile service. I would only stay here again in a similar situation - needing a quick overnight spot. Although I’d likely prefer to go a little out of my way for something better.

The Dunes BLM sign is hidden until you turn in off hwy 371 just a mile and a half south of town.
This could be a great place if the locals would keep it clean instead of leaving their trash littered around.
Still enjoyed it though. Fairly quiet on Sunday and Monday. Concrete picnic table is great even though it is covered with graffiti. I was parked with my winniebago and truck camper towing my car and still had room for the locals to do some donuts without infringing on my space.
Cell signal was great with T-Mobile 4 bars LTE.

Parking area is large enough for several vehicles. There is one picnic table. The area is in a bit of disrepair with plenty of trash left around. It is close to the highway, so lots of road noise. I had my ATV and had a great time riding. It was beautiful. Lots of geocaching locations within the dunes.
